I'll take all comers with my 1600 lb, 125 HP Europa in a parking lot. Except the new Corvettes...they are the first car to make my 33 year old Europa obsolete in autocross. Those suckers can TURN! Maybe the Elise is quicker too....

This is very discouraging. I have a 36" inseam, and was hoping to have a mid-'80s GT5 someday.

I barely fit into my '79 Fiat X1/9, so anything smaller is no good. People look at me weird when I say I'd rather be short than tall.

Oh come on! As one who has had to shelve the dream of owning a Series I 1/2 E type due to physical largesse I say to hell with it.

Sure these li'l guys may become F1 drivers, GP motorcycle races, Olympic gymnasts and obtain more coin and more glamorous women in real life than I can fantasize about. At least I am not some tiny twerp with a little mouse face heh heh.

Big and tall dudes tend to be the easygoing mellow ones. It is the little nasty horrible ones that screw up the planet.

Or so I keep telling myself everytime I don't manage to squeeze myself into some great old Italian or British car designed for a 5 1/2 footer ;-)

I love the E type too, esp. series one.
There are solutions possible though, at least in some cars. Heres some pics of the mods I did to a boxster to "make " it fit(besides adding a carrera engine!!) Swapping the sports seats for the GT3 seats saves about 1" over stock. Then eliminating the seat rails completely saves another 2.75". All of a sudden, I am deep in the cockpit, no wind buffering, and well within the safety(relative) of the roll hoops. As many tall people interested in smaller cars know, our view is often the window header instead of sky and light. With this car, I get sky, great views and plenty of room for a helmet with the top up. In fact my mechanic told me he uses a phone book to boost himself up to safe viewing for test drives!
