Hey whoever the driver is: it is NOT a rally car and you are not on a dirt road! LOL. I did NOT do that when I drove 1024!
1024 Mas du Clos photo is from September 1981. Herbert "Herbie" Müller passed away in a Porsche 908/4 at the Nürburgring on 24 May 1981. He is not the driver in that photo. Marcel Massini
Ahah I thought the Strad was making a joke about Herbie the Disney VW Beetle, not a reference to team owner driver Herbert Muller...anyway the photo is very odd, or he is realllllly pushing beyond the limit you don't normally see that with some amateur driver at a club day...unless somebody just caught THE moment when someone almost had a BIG problem...
The driver might be the late Uderzo? One might wonder if driving a 512 on (over?) the limit in a short sleeved shirt is a good idea.
Extraordinary photo taken in the years of the Ferrari 512 (originally S and modified to M) chassis 1024 in the living room of Dr Jean Aussenac who lived in Montauban in France. Copyright Cyrille Jaquinot. Image Unavailable, Please Login
There was even a Ferrari Calendar (probably French) with Aussenac's s/n 1024 on the cover! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Now, we still don't know who is drifting the 512 M s/n 1024 at Mas du Clos in September 1981.....see Mr.Massini's post #1104. Would it be Dr. Jean Aussenac himself? A doctor, racing in a T-Shirt, who keeps his 512 M in his living room?
Based on location, casual dress, eyes, and comfort with the circuit, I might guess Patrick Bardinon..... I thought he generally wore a blue helmet, but that is memory from the early 70’s, so who knows what color he was wearing in the 80’s...... Older cold tires would be a guess as well.....
Well, I'd have to ask him "C'mon man, why not the SWB Berlinetta I wrote you about ? This doesn't even seem to have adequate luggage space for weekend trips, let alone full road trip vacation".
It is Patrick Bardinon driving Docteur Aussenac's s/n 1024 at Mas du Clos, during a Club Ferrari France gathering.
Makes sense, he was aiming at a pro driver career before getting seriously hurt in an F2 crash at the Nurbugring. He guided me round Mas du clos circuit (just in the Peugeot I was using) showing me the racing line May 1 1998 just after lunch with his parents and gf and after I did a shoot of 0870. Nice guy though his brother and sister are not happy with him right now
Let's go back to the 512 S/M, there is a separate thread about the Bardinon saga. Here's a pic also taken at the Modena Aerautodromo. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login
