"Also, if the highest bidder, i.e. an entity willing to pay more than all others for a given auction consignment is considered a "Winner", does that make the 2nd highest bidder along with all others not willing to pay that much (and the seller) "Loosers" ?"

No, they came in 2nd :)

Just as in races, in F1 they are happy if they score 1 point...

    Regards, Alberto

... and do these 2nd, 3rd, etc highest bidders get to stand on the podium and enjoy festivities with Champagne, etc ?

And what about the Seller, especially if RNM ? Winner or looser ?

i may not have all the answers you are seeking but in the many in-person and online auction i have particiapted in there are a VARIETY of facotrs affecting value that might not even be related to the underlying intrinsic value of the car. That can be any of the following: who is in the room? is the car presented even at the right auction? How compressed is the decision making? I find the online SOOOO much more helpful in both eliminating a portion of risk by mimicking a PPI if experts are attending (usually in P, F or Healey auctions) then as specifically to BaT, the quantity and quality of pix presented, often by 3rd party photogs who are trained to spot and point out issues. Related to values or not? Of course all of it is.

Thanks, but with all due respect, none of this ^^ is really offering anything new or insightful nor address the questions I proposed to FChat (Dino) market/speculation experts.

No, the second and third don’t get to stand on the podium, except commiserate that they didn’t win. There will always be another option with another auction if ever.
And as far as an auction house, I have no clue :)

then I am afraid, crickets will continue, and I seriously doubt that there are speculation experts, as there are not commodity traders with a crystal ball

But since you’re not satisfied from any of the responses, then I can only assume that they are not experts.

Realistically what else but the VIN plate can be used from this car. Surely the rust has penetrated even the deepest recesses of the motor and the body presents no usable parts. A frame would be easier to fabricate than to use what this one offers.
What price for a VIN plate of a Dino... my guess is $10k or so...
