http://home.alltel.net/sb32511/Bird_strike/bird_strike.htm Yummy, looks like we're eating tonight!
At least we have the answer to the publisher's question: What happens when Road and Track meets Field and Stream? DL
lol i hit a crow once when i was going to work EARLY in the morning, I just woke up and so did the crow ^_^ It hit the top of my windshield at 75 mph and spun off the top of my car......i dont think it got up too.....poor guy i hit right on the side of his body but damn that bird didn't feel a thing when the Viper hit it! funny pics!
Last year when we came back from the F1 GP at the Nürburgring, we did about 240 km/h on the german 'Autobahn'. There was a big crow on the right track so we went a bit left and at 10 meters of the crow, the crow flew up , but because we were driving at high speed , he couldn't fly over the car anymore. so with hit the poor bastard with our headlights (we were driving an BMW 740 , the model with the 4 separate headlights. ) When we stopped, half of the grill and one headlight were totally destroyed and the bird was jammed into the radiator. Not a pretty sight !! And the repair bill wasn't pretty also.
Now that is funny. I hit a Cardinal once doing just over 80 mph. All I saw was this big red explosion right in front of my face. Scared the hell out of me though.
once on the german highway driving 170mph i've seen a black cloud over the street....then it made an awful noise RRRRRAAAAAATSH...i couldn't see anything anymore...it was a swarm of bumblebees!!! i had a layer of 2 inches on my windshield...what a terrible mess. but it was very dangerous though.
I hit a dove one day. It just dive-bombed into the front of the car (at about 70). Just kinda exploded into feathers. There was a little smudge on the MBZ emblem. The dove went to peaces....I know, I know. DL
I hit an owl going about 70MPH and its little beak stuck in my windshield, the rest was scattered about the road.
I guy I know was racing up at Brainerd in an SRFord and hit a deer doing about 130! The video was pretty scary--especially with the open cockpit--and he said he was cleaning meat out of the car for days.
That's funny as hell, almost as funny as this : That's what happens when a bird gets sucked in through a WRX hoodscoop.
