    Rebuild completed, easy job. Replaced the old brittle terminals also.

    I did not read your question about bore diameter before assembly but the kit is from AW Italian FER 95696969 29/32" try referencing that.

    The wheels look Beautiful. any issues with clearance? I love the euro bumpers as well, can you provide any information on those?

    When I got our 308,, someone had drilled a 1/16 dia hole in the cover hinges....line up the hole and tighten the bolts and the cover is in alignment!

    Today I decided I’d remove the stereo from my 1975 Dino 308 GT4 and take it in for repair at a place that fixes vintage car stereos. It works, other than the cassette player—cassettes won’t stay in. It's a Blaupunkt Bamberg US, so it's a dictaphone and it would be nice to be able to actually use it as intended. A fun feature and is original to the car (installed by the dealer).

    That turned out to be more of an adventure than it should have been!

    Turns out, there’s two big cables that come out of the back of the head unit and don’t have any visible spot at which they disconnect.

    The big black and gray cables are the ones in question.

    I don’t know how much any of you know about car stereos, but usually (even in old cars) accessories plug into the stereo head unit, thus you can take the head unit out and get a new one or get it serviced without taking the entire system out.

    That is not the case with this system!

    Turns out, the stereo head unit plugs into the accessories (exactly backwards from anything normal or conventional). Thus, you have to remove all of it in order to get the head unit out.

    On top of that, the amp was hidden behind a wall in the passenger footwell and there was a pre-stripped screw in the worst possible location.

    Car is sitting on the arms of the MaxJax lift, btw. Keeping it low and off the suspension helped the engine extraction process as I don't have a high ceiling in my shop.

    Nice engine stand. So what height is your garage then? I'm asking because at some point I will have to pull the engine and my garage ceiling is only 205 centimeters (so that might be a struggle).

    205 may be near impossible, depending on your lifting equipment.

    My ceiling height is 8'1" which is about 246cm. With help from miked on another post (https://tinyurl.com/4dy8p82c) I determined I needed a minimum of 30" (76cm) of lift to clear the rear bulkhead of the car using a lifting strap around the forward cylinder head. Which is why I have the car sitting as low as possible, without wheels, so the suspension springs are out of the equation. (otherwise the body will lift as the engine is hoisted). Sitting as it is, the bulkhead height on my car was 32" (81cm) so I needed a lifting apparatus that could function in the remaining space. I used an 8' tall gantry crane which has the lifting hook 15" below the top of the crane at max lift, which gave me a useful 49" of lifting range.

    My engine stand btw is essentially a copy of one I saw on one of the threads on this forum.

    I had resolved to make weekly “calisthenics”runs this winter to keep everything limber, but it’s now rained every day for the last three weeks. Ugh. :(

    Completed a proof of concept project: hand-built carbon fiber engine lid, weight reduction from 60 to 15 pounds, better handling on mountain roads, car runs cooler as cut-open air-box area provides more venting, plexiglass air-box cover removed for visible carburetor photo, keeping the original lid, all bolt-on easily reversible for show.

    Finished up all suspension, hubs, and steering on my project GT4.

    Finished up a complete brake system rebuild. Booster, master cylinder, callipers, etc. Lots of missing parts I needed to source. And yes, that handbrake equaliser is not factory, I had to make one as the car was missing it.
