Is it safe to assume that your car is being pushed this a few extra items probably would fail ? Just seems alot of items I am just to level set Thanks Sent from my moto x4 using Tapatalk
Do I "push" the car? Absolutely. To buy a Ferrari and not push it is just stupid in my opinion. Is the replacement of parts a result of me pushing it? No. The car is made to be pushed. Every part replacement, service and project has its own story. Way too much to iterate here, but I will give you one example, going backwards in time: I rebuilt the engine because I pushed out a head gasket at 70,000 miles. I pushed out a head gasket because the head bolts loosened as a result of heat expansion. The heat expansion occurred because air was trapped in the cooling system, overheating the engine. The air was trapped in the cooling system because I removed, then reinstalled the overflow coolant tank without knowing that I had to manually bleed the air out of the system. I removed, then reinstalled the overflow coolant tank because Ferrari of Los Gatos incorrectly installed my Capristo exhaust, and I removed the exhaust and correctly installed it myself.
An 04 360 Spider, with 26,000 miles. After 8+ years I’ve had to repair the following: 1) cats 2) rollover valves 3) fuel pump gaskets That’s it. All the rest has been routine maintenance (belts, tires, etc) However, the clutch and elastic strips in the top will need to be done later this year.
07 F430 F1, 6 years ownership, 36,000 miles. 30,000 of those are mine. Repairs: Replaced Mk1 headers with MK2 "warranty" Cracking / flaking paint in door hinge area "warranty" Left side exhaust valve 2 sets of exhaust brackets Passenger side window switch Front hood struts Crossover pipe union hose Cracking / flaking paint in door hinge area Battery
In 5 years and 10K miles, relatively little. The original owner took out the cats so I was chasing a slow down light for a while but it turned out to be just a poor connection. I bought the car with a slow (recharge every other year) AC leak but that fixed itself. Had to adjust a few things (soft top/tonneau) but other than usual maintenance items, the car has never let me down. I find just driving it is the best medicine for the car's good health.
In my 6 mo of ownership 2001 Modena gated w 19k miles:::; Belt major svc Water pump Tires Alarm module Shifter bushing Blinker module frunk— tool leather straps Oil change w major Cleaned mass air meters Driver door open safety light- re- attach harness. Our headlights only use one bulb for both hi and low beam... there is a "shield" that is applied to the low beam and its moved out of the way for high beam....
Passenger door lock cable got disconnected Sticky interior Belts and brakes Some light bulbs Wheel bearings Spark plugs (probably didn’t need to) Missing exhaust bolt.

If folks are willing to share, I'd be interested to know how much was spent, and whether it was DIY/FDealer/Indy (or what mix). I have a 2004 360 Spider, 7 months of ownership, 17.9k miles. I've had both (LH & RH) fuel sender's replaced at an independent mechanic at a cost of $1,800. I'll have an annual done in the next few months.
'03 F1 coupe. Owned since Aug 2014. Had 17.5k mi at the time (now 23k+). All services at RTGT Repairs: 1. inoperable left rear signal light due to "poor wiring connection." Apparently didn't take much to fix so there was no charge. Also couldn't find record but I know my reverse light was not working one time and fixed at no charge. 2. Last easter, wouldn't start after filling gas. ASR lights on. Flatbedded to home. Started after 2 days in the garage. Driven to dealer. They couldn't find anything wrong and couldn't reproduce the symptom. No error codes. ECU's and ground connections were cleaned. $175. No starting problem since. I've spent $10,900 since ownership but is mostly on maintenance (including 1 major, new tires, on my 2nd battery).
Be nice if all posts here included the mileage on the car (some have) and how many miles on the car since you have owned it. My 2003 Modena F1 was delivered in August of 2017 with 22K+ miles. New clutch installed one month before I bought the car. Records mostly complete. New leather dash installed only months prior to my purchase (defroster vents perfect). Timing Belts were done in 2016. I will be doing them this year. The car now has 24, 4xx miles. I had all fluids done when I received the car. Trans, coolant, oil, etc. Replaced coil packs (all 8) Both jobs done by an indie shop. Other than that I'm good. Can't recall but I'm guessing I have spent about $1500 And every time I break the ass end loose on acceleration I cannot imagine a more well spent $1500
2006 F430 35k miles. I have owned the car since september 2017 and have driven it 5000 miles. During this time i have changed the following parts, aside from regular servicing. It had a 30k mile service performed right after purchase: - complete clutch including flywheel, throw out bearing, pilot bearing - engine mounts - front lower ball joints - swapped the carbon brakes to steel GiroDisc setup - tail lights permanent fix - mk2 manifolds cracked and replaced with aftermarket headers - window switches (sticky) - scud ing relay - pressure accumulator F1 system (no reason really, it was because the scud ing relay kept indicating that the F1 pump was priming more then it should but after thorough testing of the F1 system it turned out to be flawless) I have also swapped the OEM exhaust for a Tubi dual muffler setup without valves. Due now are the solenoids on the valve covers. I have at least one leaking but it´s not an emergency so i will probably do it this summer.
I keep a spread of all I spend on service/parts. This was primarily DIY expect for annuals (DIY'ing my next one). Some of this was preventative or optional, ie, heat exchanger was not bad, but replaced when ha the intake manifold off for gaskets, and obviously interior carpet was a matter of preference. This does not include insurance or gas. Owned since Dec. 2016, currently 56k miles. Image Unavailable, Please Login
2000 360 Modena 1 year of ownership 1,500 miles Heat exchanger Tires Straightened the aftermarket wheels Upper transmission mount Busted coolant hose Replaced one of the aftermarket speakers Belt service/major And I still have a bunch of crap to do. I like it that way though. Working on cars keeps me entertained.
imahorse - do you leave 1 thing left un-fixed for the entropy gods? in hopes something else will not break.....
