Steaks look yummy...... It started raining. If it clears up tomorrow I'll grill some steaks. Feel like scallops. An old fashion surf and turf would be good.

Finished product looks fantastic, even if it was butchered with a butter knife. :)

I just bought a cooking knife set at Costco. My father has a meeting in Seattle over night, babysitting my Mom tonight. Raining, don't feel like outdoor cooking. Doing a simple meal. Bought fresh linguine noodles, some fresh basic, garlic and parm cheese. Easy toss into food processor with some olive oil, and woola pesto. I'll fry some scallops and toss in some shrimp.

All this stuff looks and sounds good. I did venture out to the store the other night, Domino's just didn't sound appealing and I was sort of going a bit stir crazy. Made pizza with salami, red pepper, garlic, and onion. Came out ok but should have cooked a bit longer. Was actually better re-heated last night.

Back to work tonight. This cold/flu/crud is going around and people at work are dropping like flies. A couple have ended up in the hospital so I feel pretty good I only missed a couple days.

Need to do some shopping and cooking tomorrow. :)

Why did spell check change basil into basic. weird.. :)

I really like garlic, but everytime I eat it, doesn't agree with my system. Its worth the hassle to eat it though.

I used to think that but actually noticed that it took away my heartburn. Seriously, I used to buy tums by the multi-pack. I started taking garlic pills and poofff no more heartburn.

Never had a problem with garlic, which is a good thing, because I'd have starved growing up.😃

Tonight was spaghetti with anchovy tomato sauce. Sauce = crushed maters + anchovy paste + garlic powder + onion powder + oregano + fresh cracked - blitz with stick blender - simmer for about 30 mins. Sprinkle with fresh grated pecorino and crushed red pepper. Yummy and fast.

Oh, & turkey meatballs that the MIL bought. Why? Who knows! I stopped asking long ago. 😕

Supposed to go to Vegas for the weekend. Just don't feel like flying or staying in a hotel. Think its fish and chips night, take my Mom out.

Similar but a little creamier.. Zankou's garlic is more like Skordalia.

So good with the Tarna. :)

We ordered a cheese and roasted garlic pizza the other night and I got heartburn right after. I love garlic and cook with it all the time but for some reason, being on pizza set it off. Still worth it though, I just took something. :D

    Go to Vegas, Z!! 😃
I don't gamble (well except for getting married there!) but I love Vegas. Possibly the greatest foodie town in America?

Tonight was prime filet mignon from Costco. Bought a whole tenderloin and have been trimming it myself with my new breaking knife. It was like buttah!! No pics. I was too hungry. 😉 Served with brown rice (mix in a bit of butter and fresh grated pecorino), and steamed broccoli.

Great wine from Costco. Pico Maccario Lavignone Barbera d'Asti. About a dozen bucks.

Their menu looks yummy. May have to check them out the next time I'm in Socal.

As it happens, I ate lunch with my crew today at a Middle Eastern place, and they had what looked to me to be toum. Tasted great on grilled pita bread.

Does anyone know what that pink/purple stiff is in the Zankou pics? Looks like a pickled veggie or some such.

It's fast food, but it's damned good fast food. Best thing on the menu is the rotisserie chicken with the fixin's (hummus, garlic sauce, etc), but you can't go wrong with anything there.

    Yep, pickled turnips.

Never heard of or thought to pickle a turnip. I love those pickled carrots you find at Mexican restaurants in Cali. I wish they were easier to find here in Tejas. Resorted to making my own. Have to add pickled turnips to my "must try to make" Thanks, El Wayne!
