Ate there years back. Going away dinner for one of my co-workers. It wasn't great as I recall, but I didn't have beef tips. I like them over egg noodles...T

Yep, grilled fish makes awesome sandwiches.

We have a ton of family here until Monday. Mom did ham at her place. I don't like ham so got a cheeseburger and poutine at a local chain restaurant.

My brother and I built a fence over the past few days getting the house 'market ready' (my first and last fence LOL) and were forced to console our efforts with fried pork chops and home made gravy, corn, mashed 'taters and apple cobbler with a scoop of vanilla...pure hell it was!!

I'd have almost been tempted to help for that grub, & I'm a lazy cuss when it comes to manual labor! 😀

Made tri tip with a horseradish and garlic rub. Pan seared and roasted with a few carrots. Made a little wine/stock and mushroom pan sauce. And this rice and grain thing I found at Costco. With a bottle of Amarone it was a great meal.

You're eating like a king. Did you buy Amarone at Costco?

Long day of work and shopping for bathroom fixtures and the like - with a fun back roads jaunt in the 911 thrown in for good measure - so we went boring with baked chicken and roasted carrots.

    My Grandma's recipe:
    Perfection.

    In a jar:
    2 table spoons salt
    Dill
    Garlic
    Water
    Cucumbers
    Bread on top
For the amounts, the regular answer: "you just know." ;)
Set in "Sunny-Shade" 8 days - for example under the dill plants or under wooden steps that let light through, under lattice, etc.

What's the bread for?!? Never seen or heard of that before. Must be one of those grandmas-only secrets. 😀

I did some fencing yesterday. Actually just repaired a section of fence.

Have a turkey in the oven. Have parents, brothers, SIL, nephew, aunt and uncle, plus cousin and her two friends. Over for dinner.

I was wondering the same thing? Also, sunny-shade? Is it ok to do this inside by a window?

I think that might only work in Canada. In Tejas, you'll get stewed pickles! ;)

Never had chicken and waffles but that looks delicious. How do you dress that?

Tonight was a pizza rustica, a nice cheese plate and shrimp cocktail with a brandy cocktail sauce followed by a rack of lamb with roasted potatoes and asparagus.

    Finishing up with these two.

Davide... Chicken and waffles is one of the South's great culinary contributions to America! Growing up in NYC, I never heard of such a thing, even though I like both chicken and waffles. When I moved down South, culinary epiphany. My favorite way to have it is to go for big flavor contrast. Sweet toppings on the waffle like sweet butter, syrup. Better yet use molasses or Steen's cane syrup. On the fried chicken - Tabasco!

    Your meal looks great.

Did Easter lamb. Since our house is a disaster area, we went to in law's house and I cooked there. Cooked it to medium/medium rare to please the masses. Sprinkled with lemon juice, rosemary, lots of fresh garlic inserted into the leg, and salt & pepper before cooking. In pic above, I snagged me a nice crusty outside bit. Yum. Tabouli - from Central Market. Green beans - cousin made them, topped with parmesan cheese. Corn on the cob - not bad for early spring; on sale for 50 cents an ear at Kroger. The white stuff is tzatziki from Costco. It was very good. Desert was fresh strawberries, also from Costco.

BTW, the tropical fruit habanero salsa I made last week was excellent on the lamb. Nice spicy and acid kick to cut through the fatty-ness of the lamb.

Hope your Easter was great everyone.

Speaking of grandmas. My great grand mother made donuts. I'm now craving her donuts. Waiting for either of my great aunts to see if they the recipe.
