Correct and I believe they are called 'stand and stuff' shells. I quit making soft tacos at home simply because I like and prefer crispy a lot more.

Almost forgot it Tuesday. Theaters here have done half priced Tuesday as far back as I can remember. Think I even saw the Goonies 31 years ago in a theater on Tuesday. So its dinner and a movie night.

We've been buying traditional round bottom hard shells from Kroger, mainly because they keep sending us coupons, and they taste not too bad. I prefer soft and flour, but for ground turkey or beef, the old school hard tacos are a fun change of pace.

Tonight, chicken soup. My cold is on way out, but an extra dose of grandma's chicken leg soup can't hurt to seal the deal. Recipe given previously. Served with a simple side salad: iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, walnuts and craisins, plus my favorite homemade dressing: yellow miso, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, a splash of EVOO, some water. Blitz it. Easy and tasty. See pic below.

Might have to try that. I've never really used miso in my cooking.

I finally threw together what I had on hand to make something similar to your pot roast soup. I just threw a bunch of stuff in the crock-pot last night and had a decent soup for lunch today.

You may have to try a few kinds of miso to find one with the right umami level for you. I prefer yellow. It's mute flavorful imo than white, but not a funky as red.

Nothing better than a good soup from items you have on hand. Empty that pantry out for new ingredients...T

We had a plan. Head to my hometown 35 to 40 minutes away. Have dinner and see a movie there. The restaurant has been there 37 years. Grew up with it. Then we find out the one screen theater has been torn down. Building a new multi screen edge of town, its not finished yet. Stayed local and had BBQ (ribs) and skipped the movie.

Wow. I can't recall the last time I saw a one screen theater. Yes, I can! In Times Square. No not that kind of theater. ;) I saw Aliens (maybe Alien? awesome on a bigger screen!). And, Sho Kosugi in Pray for Death, the chip-sockiest, ninja butt-kickathon in cinematic history!

Yeah, it was built in the 1950's. Even now the population is only 9k people, so not a lot of movie goers. But even in the 80's, one screen was kind of sad.

Single screen was epic if they had a good sound system. I saw Aliens on single screen in Times Square. Twas awesome! Sharing a tub of gross popcorn in the balcony with friends...T

This was a little one screen place with bad sound. We did have an old school theater with balconies in Vancouver. They had modern sound in the 80's. It was cool. But the modern multiplex cinemas killed them by the 1990's.

Left over beef ribs. Craving Kraft mac and cheese, so that'll be a side dish.

Babysitting my cousins German Shepard and lab. Her friend past away in an accident yesterday. So her and her husband have gone to the island.

story here: Condolences for Mountie Sarah Beckett pouring in - British Columbia - CBC News

My cousin was her training officer years ago. They became friends. Not in the article. She just came back to work in the last week from maternity leave. New mother. Very sad deal

    That looks tasty!!

Made a whirlwind trip to Costco today and grabbed burgers and dogs for work BBQ tomorrow night.

Also grabbed an Asian chicken wrap for lunch today. Not bad with the dressing that comes with it.

Oh, and I looked for the ancient grains/rice mix I posted about before but I didn't see it this time. Could very well have been a one shot deal. Then again they just expanded the store and moved EVERYTHING around too so I could have just missed it. I was kind of in a hurry after being delayed in traffic on the way there for a roll-over wreck. Oh well.

Man that is sad. Looking at the last picture it's no wonder she didn't make it. That is a huge impact. RIP.

Oh dear. That must have been a huge crash. RIP to your friend.

Tonight was cheap steak night. $5/lb rib eye at Kroger. Served with beets and roasted sweet taters.

    Very sad to read.

I was going after the taco post with this but with a healthy touch. Sautéed the shrimp w very little olive oil, Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and black beans instead of cheese. Ok, ok I keeed...Gristedes didn't have any queso blanco. A little mashed up avocado and salsa fresco topped with sriracha to round it out.

I may have met her last year at my cousins wedding.

Ribs not as good the second day. My fault was lazy and used the microwave to heat them up. Should have put in the oven.

Don't know if you tried this, but for reheating ribs in the wave, cover with a damp paper towel, and then heat it by waving at reduced power, 30 - 50%. This assumes they're not frozen, but just refrigerated...T

Ok I will just ask for the recipe ;)
    Please pretty please ?

    Artichokes
I was in the grocery store yesterday and it hit me, that insane craving for a couple artichokes.
Finally off to the side, there were about 10 just sitting there, kind of small and $4.99 each ...... COME ON, please bring on the big ones I will pay up to $3 each.
When do they hit the shelves and drop the price ?

Good tip. I don't use the microwave much. Maybe for heating up can soups.
