French bistro beef dip and poutine. Came out with my take out order and had a fairly new Maserati Quattroporte GTS parked beside me. Black on black.

Salmon. Golden beets. Beet greens. The latter I sauteed with green onions, garlic, onion powder, fresh cracked. Beet greens are less bitter than collards and mustard greens. [IMG]

I have a small post office, a very small community library and neighborhood credit union up the street from me. Also about 1 mile from my house is a commercial greenhouse, peppers, tomato's, cucumbers, etc. They sell direct to the public. Drawback its cash only. Plan was check mail at post office. Get $20 out at the credit union machine. Get some fresh veggies and make a sauce. Then fry up some breaded veal and make sandwiches for dinner.

Blasted ATM is outside and the sun made it hard to see the buttons. Instead of taking out $20, I took out $100. Fast cash option so no stopping it once selected. No big deal. I just hate Canada's plastic bills. I try to use debit or credit for everything. This way I don't have to have our stupid plastic bills.

So know I have to spend it! Sushi night, I can blow at least $60 just on myself.

If I invite my parents it will be gone by tonight.

We have a nice thing here between most banks. I can send anyone in Canada, money via email. So most places or private sales I can avoid cash.

Homemade chicken soup. Great excuse to empty out the veggie crisper. I boiled up some boneless, skinless chicken breast for doggie treats this weekend. So, I used that as my base. Sweated half an onion, some scallions, zucchini, fresh carrots, celery, red bell pepper, broccoli. Paprika, pepper, Mrs. Dash, oregano, parsley and two bay leaves for the herbs & spices. Chuck in brown rice that was in the freezer. Thicken with mashed potatoes that the MIL couldn't finish. Simmer. Enjoy.

    Take two.

I'm trying to emulate the veal sandwich from this place: Menu | California Sandwiches

Have no clue how a restaurant that started out selling Italian style sandwiches owned by Italians is called California Sandwiches. They have several locations in Toronto, but the original location is the best. At least it was in the early 2000's, the founders still worked at the location and cooked the sauce, etc.

Perhaps the owners had a different California in mind. :)

THAT is tasty! Muy sabroso! Tonight, it's semi-homemade pizza. Bought pre-made dough at Central Market. Keeping it simple for the ladies - two margherita pies. And, inspired by darth's post, nutella & strawberry dessert pizza!

    Recipe looks innocent enough.

That is one gorgeous car! Could be a good guess actually. My friend who was in his 70's in the 1990's opened his car dealership in the same neighborhood in the 1950's. His dealership was up the street from that place. My friend started selling Ferrari's and Lamborghini's to the business owners all over that neighborhood in the late 60's and 1970's. Many of the restaurant owners in that neighborhood love Italian exotics.

Can't tell. He employed a few salesmen back in the 70's and a few mechanics. He was a pretty big guy. I met him through another friend. He was basically retired when I met him.

What's the smaller, lower car amidst all those Rolls Royces? (I'm guessing that they're Rolls). Toward the left of the pic...T

Even back in the 1970's, he mostly had Rolls Royce's. Next most popular was Mercedes. With the odd Ferrari and Lamborghini toss into the mix.

There was a really cool Rolls for sale here in Dallas a few years back. One off for some exec. Really nice blue. Lambs wool rugs. Gorgeous wood accents. Silver Spur, I think. I shoulda bought it. Oh well, Ferrari first, then a Roller.

Tonight. Pizza. Plain. Strawberry and nutella.

Veal sandwich wasn't as good as the restaurant. I borrowed tomato sauce from my mom. She makes big batches and freezes some. Now I have leftover sauce. So spaghetti and meatballs night.

Every time I go there, I look fondly over at that table and remember the look of amazement on your face when they started overwhelming you. No guff.
