We figured it out, its semi refined. Forgot to get the brand. She only cooks Chinese, so most of her shopping is at Asian supermarkets. Its partly more selection, but she also has some trouble reading English.

Extremely soft, and instead of bread I used a day old Italian seasoned foccacia with the milk...

I'm undecided. Leaning towards some form of take out. Made homemade burgers last night, so burgers are out. Maybe fried chicken.

The choices for fried chicken here kind of suck. Safeway, KFC and Lee's famous recipe. The later is 2 star rated on Yelp. But its not that bad. In the bad part of town, kind of sketchy. Homeless camp in the area, drug area, hookers out. Can be interesting. Oh a fourth option, I always forget A&W has fried chicken. Might go that route, onion rings pretty good there.

Given those options, I'd eat somewhere else and wait until you make a trip to the southern U.S. for proper fried chicken! 😃

I was spoiled in Memphis. Quite a few places do great fried chicken. Nothing I've had in DFW is close.

Well I haven't been cooking for myself as much as usual so haven't posted much lately either. I did fire up the grill Saturday and as usual when I fire it up I like to cook a bunch of stuff to make use of it.

I cooked a couple skirt steaks that I had marinated for a couple days but was pretty disappointed with them. Even cutting across the grain they were still really chewy.

I threw on the rest of a pack of Costco burgers left over from a few weeks back.

I also did up some chicken breasts that I threw a quick marinade on. They were actually pretty much the best out of all of it.

Tried making some of the ancient grain stuff that I posted before but I didn't have any stock on hand or any butter and it turned out rather bland and plain.

Made a stop at the store last night and remedied the lack of basic provisions like stock and butter though so I'm back on track. :)

^ Welcome back, Jdubbya. It is possible, from what I've read, to over marinate beef, but I thought it got mushy then. You may have gotten a tough batch of skirt steak.

Boring tonight, angel hair pasta and tomato sauce...T

Yeah I think I almost undercooked it too which should be darn near impossible as I could see through the meat once I threw it on top of the raging coals I had stoked just about as hot as I've ever let my little Weber get. ;) Thought I was gonna singe the hair on my arm even reaching across it with long tongs it was so hot.

For dinner at work tonight I heated up some left over goulash type of thing I threw together the other night. Rotini pasta, some hamburger, and a quick tomato sauce. Not bad with a little cheese on top. :)

Hmm. I always thought it was safer to cook the steaks from the bottom of the cow (flap, flank, hanger, skirt) less rather than more, so as to avoid toughening them up.

Your concoction sounds like Hamburger Helper!

Yeah me too. We'll see when I go to use the leftovers if it is better after re-heating I suppose. :)

Yeah could be a bit like hamburger helper. Growing up we always called it goulash even though I know in different cultures that can mean wildly different things. Pasta (was usually elbow mac back then), sauce, and meat and that was goulash in our house.

A&W was o.k.. After my brother said I should have gone to Ricky's Country Kitchen. I didn't think of them because their original location went bankrupt.

    I'm thinking soft tacos.

😋 Beer butt chicken! Looks great.

I remember those fancy cones from the ice cream truck, growing up in Brooklyn. We were poor. None for us. :(

Once in a while, grandma would buy us one when mom and dad weren't around. 😃

    It's homemade chicken soup tonight...T

Speaking of bird in the roto, a friend bought me one of these for Christmas back in '98. Believe it or not, the thing makes some damned tasty chicken. And it still works!

I stuffed the one I did tonight with apples and onions and the apples were great! :)

My brother bought one and I agree it made great chicken. I didn't see much other use for it though. I suppose you could do a roast or something too.

    So you like apples?? .........
