Pork belly + fire? Hard to go wrong with that combo unless you completely carbonize it...T

Before I saw your lower comment I was trying to decide if it was tenderloin, some funky shaped steaks, or eggplant. :) Pork belly sounds better than any of those!! ;)

I was inspired by Tamas' post about the Mongolian grill so made some spicy chicken and vegetable stir fry today. Served over my favorite Jasmine rice. Tasty!!

It ended up quite delicious! Definitely gotta watch it like a hawk tho! Flares up frequently.

Luckily the light char just added extra flavor instead of overpowering everything!

We served it on a bed of rice and some mixed lettuce.

Come on Jdubbya! Pics?!? 😔 I wanna see wok pow action, veggies and chicken flying high in the air. 😀

We did breakfast for dinner tonight. Huevos rancheros tacos. Scrambled egg. Fresh cracked black pepper. Refried beans; Goya brand. Veggie sausages. Tabasco. Serve on a flour tortilla.
Something diff. If I was really smart, I'd have thought to chill some bubbly and buy some o.j. for mimosas...T

I didn't snap any pics. Mine would be much more boring than that video!! I actually don't own a wok, I keep saying I'm gonna buy one but I also only have an electric stove. I guess I could light up a charcoal chimney and use that!!

Having leftover stir fry for dinner tonight.

Come now, you're being modest. 😀

Outside pizza tonight. Rigged up this contraption. 22.5" Weber bullet smoker. Fire ring from a 18" bullet, plate setter from a BGE, then a cast iron pizza stone. Fired by pecan wood.
It was roughly 600 F on the cast iron once fully heated up.

Homemade pizza dough. Used my F-chat recipe. Only mod was the use of tipo 00 flour instead of AP.

I like to precook the pizza skins. At these temps 1 min per side. Then I put on the sauce, cheese, toppings. Then, 5 mins for final cooking. Cool for a few mins...T

Chipotle Mexican Grill again. Its the best fast food style Mexican food. Only complaint they don't put very much steak in the burrito.

I've never eaten at a Chipotle. Too many good hole-in-the-wall Mexican joints down here...T

I can believe that. Phoenix and parts of Los Angeles to San Diego are like that. This far North, not as many options. Except Eastern Washington, huge migrant worker population there.

Definitely, Phoenix. Haven't spent enough time in other two places to say, but can believe it. My guess though is you have a zillion more great Asian places to eat at up in B.C...T

Nah, just bein honest. :) Nothing too exciting about throwing a few veggies and some chicken in a skillet on the stove. But it's been three meals so far and have enough left for one more tomorrow. :)

Tonight when I got home threw some skirt steak in the skillet and cooked it about as high as I could in a non-stick pan. Sliced it up thin and made a sort of french dip. Nothin on the steak but a little soy and salt and pepper. It was pretty good.

Kind of lucky. My father did a lot of business in Nevada and Arizona. Net result it was more convenient to have homes there. So I know Phoenix fairly well. Plus the Lake Tahoe area and Reno. I've also lived in Seattle and Eastern Washington.

I've mentioned that Richmond is nearly 60% Asian. This figure includes South Asians, mainly from India (still some agriculture there). I believe the mainland Chinese is near 50% of the population. Vancouver is getting close to being the same. Just out of size the U.S. does have more Asians. But in terms of proportion of population Richmond has the largest percent of population of Chinese in North America. Net result no matter what type of Asian foods you like you can find some of the best outside of Asia there. Except Indian food for some reason.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Village_(Richmond,_British_Columbia)

Richmond is one of my favorite places to visit around here. I've even considered moving closer for more food options restaurant wise. But its insane real estate price wise. If you like cooking Asian dishes at home. Richmond, Vancouver and Surrey have Asian grocery stores the size of our stores. We have a few local cooking shows on TV, they never say if you can't find this, substitute with this local ingredient when making Asian dishes!

Cold asparagus soup. Yummy. I do love a good cold soup when the temps climb into the triple digits...T

My friend cooked this and kept the serving bowls in the freezer before plating - nice touch I had not thought of myself.

Cool. Have seen/done that with beer and margarita glasses, but like you never thought to do it with cold soup. Genius! 😒 Now, I'm hankering for a cold soup!

Yum. Carnivor-licious! I wonder if they cook them up the same way as the original in Greenville?

Yes, they do with special ceramic broilers that cooks the meat at 650 degrees from the top instead of the bottom. That way all the juices pool at the bottom and they serve it over the steak so it is wonderfully tasty and tender.

Man most of the stuff here looks awesome!!!

I'm experimenting. I did spaghetti, meat sauce and deli made fresh meat balls. I used a bag of frozen homemade moms sauce. That was last night. Tonight with the leftover sauce I'm turning it into a chilli like meal!
