Cattleman's Steakhouse near Fabans? I worked on our taxes today. Rice and beans! To remind the wife and I of those days, long ago, when we got tax refunds! And, didn't have a Ferrari to drive. I had a late lunch, Subway foot long Italian BMT. Just getting hungry for dinner now. Going to keep it simple and getting McDonalds. Have coupons, getting a Big Mac combo...………….. Its actually not illegal to serve medium rare burgers in Canada. Over cooking is a health Canada guideline. A few rebellious restaurants in Vancouver will do it.
LOL. Quite true Tom. It was my friends 40th, and he rented a place in Kyle, TX. Probably between 15-20 people that were able to make it. Saw a lot of familiar faces I hadn't seen in a while. The sad thing was his father passed away just last month, so it was bittersweet for him I'm sure. In regards to that bacon. We cooked 7 or 8 packages of bacon. That's a shame they're closing. Really sucks. That looks great!
I'm heading over to Eastern Washington. I'll probably stop for sushi if I make it before they close at 9pm. If they are closed, I'll just grab Denny's. Not many options on the highway.
Walk into the maze of streets that are Beijing's houtongs and you will find maybe the most interesting dish of our trip this time. We had it for breakfast 4 times this week. The first day we couldn't find it, we tried again the next day and found it. The doorway to the left... Image Unavailable, Please Login "Starting at 6am every morning, you'll notice a motley crew of schoolchildren, middle-aged office workers and grandparents collected around the red doorway of 7 Daxing Hutong, just off Jiaodaokou Nan Dajie. Everyone has a bowl in hand and is attentively sipping on miancha (面茶) or 'flour tea' – a traditional old Beijing millet and rice flour porridge topped with a thick layer of sesame paste and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Wander back into the hutong courtyard to the husband-and-wife team's tiny kitchen (they've been running this breakfast operation out of their home since 1994) and make your order (3RMB per bowl, pay after)." Last meal on the way to the airport... From an online review: "This Shaanxi noodle shack dishes out what are colloquially known as “crack noodles” by anyone who has ever tried a bowl of its youpo chemian. Available with or without pork, the He family’s secret recipe tosses together broad ribbons of handmade wheat noodles and an exceptional house-blend of chili sauce with a splash of vinegar and soy sauce to make a dish you’ll be obsessing about for days after. Pair it with a “double-sauced” roujiamo, one of the best renditions of the fatty pork sandwich that the city has to offer." Was delicious. Again, I'm hooked on these thick and chewy noodles. I didn't leave yesterday.. It was raining. I don't like driving at night in rain. Getting ready to go now. I'm dropping off dry cleaning on the way out. Next door to the cleaners is a Japanese restaurant, I'll grab some sashimi and rolls for dinner.
Don't forget the scallops! Nothing special tonight. Chef salad with eggs, chicken breast and a homemade strawberry, pink peppercorn vinaigrette...T
It is a liquid diet I guess by definition, but I the intent is not really for dieting. Rather, I am preparing for going a short while without food (juicing in preparation), which will heal the gut lining and reset my immune system. I am juicing with some minimal soft fruit and yogurt which is tapering me down from solid foods so I can abstain from foods. The prep allows for a gentler transitoon, and juicing concentrates nutrients to support the healing and damage repair that fasting brings. It sounds contrary, but water fasting is abstaining from foods and consuming only water, and juice fasting is consuming just juices, no solid foods. Breaking the fast starts with juices too.
Grilled blackened swordfish and grilled corn (marinated in a cilantro, cumin, lime sauce). This was the first corn of the year. The corn was shockingly good. Not sure where it came from...well it came from Walmart...but where they got it remains a mystery. Maybe China Image Unavailable, Please Login
I forget the name of the restaurant. But had chicken parm there. It was ok. In this town, I should have just gone to Olive Garden. On the way out, I'm stopping at a BBQ place for ribs. Its decent for here!
Whoa. This is way early for sweet corn. We're taking matters into our own hands. Image Unavailable, Please Login Last time we tried to grow corn in the garden, it was the hottest summer we've had since the Great Depression! T

Picked up the best looking large prawns and scallops I’ve seen from a local fish shop. I think they fly their seafood in from their boat which docks in San Diego. Decided to marinate them overnight in a blend of; olive oil, garlic, ginger, cilantro, lime juice, cumin, red pepper, and lemon pepper. Grilled them tonight and served with Jeera Rice (rice cooked with cumin seeds and onion). This dish came out great, very happy with it! Finished with a slice of Ania’s homemade pumpkin pie. Yummy. ^Fabulous. Almost bought scallops at Costco last week but they were previously frozen. If you like pumpkin pie, try sweet potato pie. I spice mine like a pumpkin pie, but like to sweeten up the taters after roasting in the oven with a little Steen's Cane Syrup. T
Looking good guys I’m in for a hot dog tonight. Long week. Maybe a nightcap at the manor later if wifey is up for it. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
