    So, here's what's stupid about these steering wheels. Most of those knobs, buttons, and levers do something that a driver used to do with his hands and feet, according to his talent and skill. To me, this represents a collection of "driver aids" that should be prohibited.

    Remember when a steering wheel was just.....a steering wheel? I remember when sitting in Bud Moeller's 312T5 (from 1980) that the only additions to the wheel were (if I recall correctly) a radio talk button and an ignition kill switch.

    Heck, back in the mid '70s, the short-lived Goodyear Motorsports Club used to give away recently used F1 steering wheels! That would not happen today.

    Absolutely stupid. As others have said, "throw out the computers and bring back the drivers."
