    Hi,
I’ll be replacing my airbag steering wheel with a non airbag steering wheel and I wanted to ask what is needed to trip/bypass the airbag light being on?

    Thanks,
    Chris

Seeing the mentions of my earlier posts on the resistance value to satisfy the TRW module when removing the steering wheel airbag, I decided to measure the airbag. First, the only reason I used a 4.7 ohm resistor is that it was the closest value that I had on hand at the time. While the 4.7 ohm did the trick, (a fuse is optional, but can’t hurt), best to go with a lower value resistor, as most suggest, 3.3 ohm. So, I went to my closet to bring my steering wheel for the measurement photo. I hurt my back lifting the thing, o_O one heavy steering wheel. Results in the photo, 3.0 ohm…

Question on wiring the resistor - does the polarity matter for the direction the resistor is installed?

Tried it - triggered the light - pulled the bulb. Problem solved

Are you sure the resistor triggered the light and not something else you did? Putting power on the airbag system with either the airbag disconnected or the instrument binnacle plugs disconnected will trigger the light. Reconnecting the binnacle or fitting a resistor afterwards will not reset the light.

I used the resister that came with the hub adapter and it triggered the light. As you say, once triggered you can't undo it.

You need to find someone with the SD2 tool to reset it if you triggered it.

I remember 4 ohms triggered the $100 light.
