Always wondered when that might happen. Though mentioned briefly in the article, it's true about rodents (squirrels) burrowing & weakening banks. Pop managed a Water District & hundreds of Squirrels burrowed into water treatment facility mini-levees. In 60's, State had outlawed killing them in tunnels with gas fumes and a match - (very cool to see blue flame shoot out other end - particularly at dusk). So, out came the .22's - 8-shot revolver, semi-auto, rifle - to dispose of the squirrels... and the problem.

Gonna take a long time to fix this one.
