Okay, nobody? Why I'm asking? Zagato is building (for a customer) a recreation of it's Panoramica, check their website. They will release it after the summer. Somehow Ferrari has arranged for a chassis.. AND they (Ferrari) have approved this car being build. Could it be that Zagato is building this recreation on the original chassis?? There you have it; that's my question. Now, anyone? Ciao Peter
I assume you do mean #0018M There is no car #018 which was given to a series of 212 spare parts.#0018 was the Panoramica with original engine #0016M The rolling chassis and drive train were completed by Ferrari in early 1949 and delivered to Zagato by the first owner Antonio Stagnoli. Zagato had already completed the drawings for the body in March od 1949 and the body was completed and installed on the chassis in June of 1949. In August of 1950 Stagnoli decided he wanted an open wheel cigar type body on the car and in three weeks Zagato created and installed this body. Pictures of this body are in the book"Ferrari by Zagato". The post from Monoposto is interesting and it will be interesting to see what comes of this reproduction. It would also be great if someone could get some info on the original in Southern France.. Just one man's opinion. tongascrew
Ofcourse #0018M. In the Marchiano book both body types are shown. Zagato is doing this car for a client. It's on it's wheels and target was christmas '08 but it will be ready much earlier, maybe in september. June 12th I'll be visiting the Zagato factory again and, who knows, I might ask about how it's coming along and well, which chassis did you say you're using... ;-) What I would like to know (that's why I posted), is how are the chances they are using the original chassis...? Seems like it's been hiding for a long time in the south of France.
Hi, see if you can get some pictures and more info at Zagato. Yes, also ask around for any info on the original chassis., What a "barn find"that would be. Just one man's opinion. tongascrew
Last visit there (just after Villa d'Este) they promised to show me the 3D-rendering on a big screen. Car is not at the factory, specialist is doing the panels (Modena area). Indeed a cool "barnfind" if it turns out to be chassis #0018M....
