Well there two different GT1s pictured (001 and 002). I very much doubt 001 is for sale as I spoke with the owner about a month ago with regards to the the car and future tracking of said car. FWIW 5MMUSD was casually offered for 001 and it was turned down.
Probably #002 as Euro-Classics have participated in the sale of several other cars from that owner's collection recently. Time to buy Andrew! >8^) ER
When #003 was advertised for sale back in Japan (2009), they were asking 270 million Yen ($3 million USD at the time). I would be surprised if this was under a million or even just slightly above that. Although who knows what it will actually sell for...
I heard 001 has up to 900 HP. Considering it only weighs 900 kg, it can beat any of today supercars on a track.
#002 and #003 are not 100% the same as #001 #001 is the only GT racing car ever built by SF (at the Maranello factory, F1 dept) The others are 'copies' but some parts / specs are different and not built at the F1 department.
It has over 950bhp, I was there when the car was dyno'd. The video that exists of the dyno test only shows peak power at 10.5K rpm, the redline is higher than that, and at the redline it produced over 950bhp. Additionally 001 is MUCH faster now, than when it left the factory. Correct.
The F50 GT never raced because Ferrari cancelled the project. I wonder why they never turned them into road-legal cars ??? BTW, Tool-Fan, has a F50 GT ever been brought to the Ring ?
The reason why they never turned them into road legal cars is that the car sits a hair off the ground. One pothole and there goes the front end, God only knows what a front end would cost. Also that engine would need to be rebuilt after so many hours not street friendly, Cost only God would know. Just not worth it.
Andrew I've being meaning to mention there is a book being worked on right now that goes very deep into the history and reconstruction of 001, it should out soon. The 0-60mph time would be under 2.5 seconds, interestingly when 001 was track along side a Mclaren F1 GTR it turned in quicker lap times. The F50GT1 (001) is also faster in a straight line than a GTR. Nope. However, just as a benchmark 001 put in faster lap times than a 333SP around Fiorano .
Pretty impressive on a tight more technical course (same motor/drivetrain?); 001 the lighter of the two?
