Who's a seller on Ebay? Whats up w/ all the inquires?

    I've been a buyer on Ebay for a while, and decided I might try to sell some things as well. As I was going through the registration process, I thought it was a little weird that they asked me for a credit card number to 'verify my identity', but armed with the knowledge that my credit card backs ME up, I gave it to them. The very next screen, Ebay asks for a checking account too! WTF??? Why the hell do they think they need all this personal financial info?

    I guess I won't be a seller on Ebay.

    Are you sure you were signing up for eBay and not PayPal?

    PayPal is owned by eBay now and they ask for all that sort of stuff, and eBay pushes to towards PayPal very aggressively.

    I sell on eBay a lot and I have NEVER had to enter checking account info. They bill my credit card for eBay fees, that's it!

    I've had the same experience as Mike. They bill directly to credit card.
