Is the higher 40% price worth it ? Seems many prefer the drive and look of the mid engine V8. what are reasons for the GT V12 ? Forgive me to ask this question. I am new to Ferrari and curious about it.

    A V12 has a magic that cannot be matched by a V8.
There are many factors that make someone prefer a car though, so it all depends on the personal priorities.

For me its production numbers, my 575 they only made 2056 and less than 600 came to the US. Do you know how many 360's they made at the same time? 15,000+ so rarity is the extra value to me, they both drive great, actually like the V8 sound more myself but still prefer a rare car. Even today my 575 maranello is always a crowd pleaser even though all the restaurants in miami have multiple 458 or 488 sitting around. You will rarely ever see a V12 ferrari, doubtful you ever see 2 F12 at one restaurant, ive seen 5 488 at a place before.

That’s yes. I’ve never seen one F12 in the street but many 458/488 and quite many Aventador. I suppose maybe a lot of people here thinking if to buy the V12 Ferrari better spend a little more and get an Aventador which is more exotic looking, scissor door and get more attention.

Well, if you are only buying for exclusivity or to impress people, that logic applies. I buy what I want to drive. If they made 100,000 812’s it would still be an amazing dream awesome car.

It is inherently perfectly balanced. It is totally linear in its power delivery, from tick over, to cut-off. It dishes out a scary crescendo in the last couple of thousand RPM, like it is trying to rip the chassis apart, but one needs to be determined/crazy enough in order to poke the beast - unlike a turbocharged engine, which just offers tons of mid-range oomph. It makes a sound, I 'd say music, like no other layout. It is assembled, in its entirety, by one specialised technician. Because, at the end of the day, the N/A V12 is the King of car engines!!!

    Joyful pair of pure Ferrari:

And of course the king (for engine reference only, please ignore KERS but catch that beast's infinitely variable intake):

No forced induction. No very small blocks. Needs to be close to a good sized couch and spin above or very near 9,000rpm. Mmm..... Damn the weight. Worth every penny for some.

Also, I only paid a 30% premium over the 488 for:

    30% more power
    33% more cylinders...
100% increase in heart stirring sound
    75% more practicality
    75% more comfort
    150% more thrill

    :)

    Agree. Factually, V12 is 50% more cylinders than a V8 but who's counting :)

I find the logic for a V8 in a Lusso a bit confusing unless you are in Malaya , Singapore or China where the tax on anything over 3999 ccs is punitive. Here in good ol Blighty with all the bells and whistles the difference is about 38k (ie typically 250k against 288k average) and the average fuel saving on 6,000 mls per annum is about £500.
Can someone explain what I'm missing here..........................cos if you are spending upwards of a small house and the extra 38k gives you the drama, the noise, the four wheel drive, the linear progression, the perfect balance, the exclusivity and the knowledge that you drive the sweetest engine in the world I'm sure the extra £500 spent on fuel ain't going to cause too many sleepless nights.

I paid US$75,000 more for my V12 Lusso.........I dont need the V12 nor the AWD in a tropical country but you only live once and I dont want to have buyers remorse for getting a V8.
