I love looking at some of the old onboard videos from past F1 cars / seasons. One thing that is glaring - there aren't any of Ferraris prior to around 1989 / 1990...any reason why?

Perhaps just by chance, but were they trying to protect something?

This is really what I wanted to see - Gilles or Pironi in an early 80's turbo car. Just nothing out there.

I've never seen video footage of "el maestro" in action. And aside from the usual hazards at Monaco in 1956, at one point, he's driving past parked cars!

You notice that in the onboard footage, he's driving with the cockpit cover removed, which must have caused some buffeting. And this is a Lauda who's still recovering from his Nurburgring burns!

For those familiar with today's configuration of the Montreal track, the differences in 1978 are noteworthy, starting with the very different location of the pits, right after the hairpin. There is also a left-right chicane (first seen from 0:32-0:37) on what is today the back straight, but today it's a minor right-hand kink taken flat out.

Here is an aerial photo of the Montreal circuit before the 1988 update that relocated the pits & garages to their current location. Today, that hot-air balloon would be sitting right in pit lane!

No, it might be. Those early ground-effect cars were extremely stiffly sprung - such that the drivers felt every bump - so that might be realistic. (Though this car probably doesn't still have sliding skirts).
