I love the Cali, but quite apart from this, the thread is the only positive accomplishment I have this year, which tells you about this year. At the risk of sounding ghey, let it be like Tinkerbell in the old Peter Pan tv show, "clap if you want this thread to live".No? Heathens.

I think it says something about the car when you have such a long thread which is essentially negative. That's why it won't die; the purists are disappointed.

However, if instead Ferrari would have introduced a true Dino replacement, mid-engine, light, small, fast, (sort of Lotus Elise on steroids) the forum for that car would have had a 700+ post thread titled "Why is the new Dino so great?".

Oh, I totally disagree. There would be 700 plus posts WHINING about why this new Dino is not as good as the original Dino, how dare they screw up a classic, why is it so expensive, why doesn't it have 6 cylinders, why has Ferrari gone astray, why is it so big, why isn't it faster than an F430, why doesn't it have a targa top like the original, their making too many of them, blah blah blah.

This is a GT. Can't any of you "purists" accept that? Its not like they haven't made GT's before.

Thank goodness in about a month they'll show the F430 replacement. Then, you can all have something new to whine about.

If you want a Lotus Elise... buy one and then stick some Ferrari badges on it. Heck they do it to 246 Dino's and "purists" don't seem to complain so I don't see the problem.

Ok I've compiled the whole shebang. Please add to the list if anything has been left out:

-This car is the ending of Ferrari as a company
-everyone can afford this entry-level priced Ferrari, priced similar as Camry
-what a mistake and sad replacement for the F430
-this will be in every garage and seen everywhere
-the rear is so large and looks like an SL and a Lexus crossed Space Invaders
-I can't believe they made this car, what a disappointment
-It can't compare to the F430 in any way
-has Ferrari lost their direction with the F430 replacement in this car?
-I can't believe they replaced the F430 with this overgrown Miata
-the exhaust sounds like an American car
-this is the last Ferrari to be made
-this is the future for all Ferraris made from now on

-It's way too Japanese looking even though it is really a Maserati
-It looks like every car ever made except for Ferrari
-This is a fake Ferrari, undeserving of the prancing horse
-It sounds like a Ford Mustang crossed with a Lexus
-You can see every car copied in this design
-the car looks bad in every color, but black is best to hide the car
-this car blends in to all the other cars

-this car looks just like a Lexus and is a sad replacement for the Mondial
-this is a sad replacement for the F430
-I was expecting a mid-engine car for the F430 replacement, what a disappointment this car is
-this is worse than the Mondial as the rear seats are not usable
    -this is a Mondial replacement
-this is a bad direction for the new F430
-Toyota invented this look even though it looks like a Honda S2000
-Lexus copied Honda who copied Maserati and made a Jap version of it
-the rear is way too large
-I don't like this car; I don't care what you say
-this is the Mondial all over again, a mistake
-Ferrari has never made 2+2s before; I don't understand what they have done here
-front-engined Ferraris have never existed until the California
-what is a GT car? I don't understand what Ferrari has done

-that folding top --it makes the car look like a Chrysler and a Volvo
-the tail pipes, everyone knows they are fake and are directly copied from the Lexus
-the front and rear and sides are directly ripped off from Pontiac
-look at that rear: It looks like a carbon copy of a Lexus
    -Ferrari copied Pontiac Solstice
    -Ferrari copied Lexus
    -Ferrari copied Honda
    -this is a Lexus
    -this is a Lexus
    -Ferrari used a Maserati design
    -Ferrari copied Mazda Miata
    -Ferrari copied Ford
    -this car is for gays
    -this car is for women
    -Ferrari will go bankrupt

I just don't get it with all of the negativity. The car is real, the reviews by professionals are for the most part excellent, the road tests prove the car is worthy of being part of the Ferrari model lineup. It fills a particular void in the range and in the real world it delivers everything it promises.

When you study the negative posts, most of them are about the way the car looks, and most of those comments target the rear end. Get over it already. When you are in the car you don't see the rear end! I guess the comments make sense as more than likely 90% of the negative posters will never own a Ferrari of any kind, so what they think is irrelevant to Ferrari. Those Ferrari owners who don't like it fortunately have other choices in the model lineup as well as an infinite amount of older Ferraris to choose from

I liked this car when I saw. I love this car after driving it.

If it is looks that count, the 360 is an abortion, especially as compared to a 308 or even a 355. The 430 is the same abortion after it dried up and got some crusty edges, yet they are brilliant cars to drive. Ferrari haven't built an exquisite car for many decades but they sure 'nuff build great cars to drive.

    Charliehorse: you forgot:

    It's too big outside
    It's too small inside
    The back seat is useless
It's designed to hold golf clubs
    It can't hold golf clubs
    It's got A CUP HOLDER!!!
It doesn't sound like a Ferrari

and my all time favorite complaint listed in these 700+ threads (drum roll, please!):

IT'S TOO PERFECT TO BE A FERRARI!

Then, there are the general Ferrari haters....

I hate everything Ferrari made after 1967
I hate everything Ferrari made after Enzo died
I hate everything Ferrari made after the 355
I hate everything Ferrari made after LDM got involved
I hate everything Ferrari makes that I can't afford
I hate everything Ferrari makes that you like
    I hate everything

I think that with your list pretty much sums things up!

    Live and let live!

If you have seen it and driven it and conclude you don't like it- hey you are entilited to your opinion! Pass on the car and get something else.

Ferrari really tried to produce something special loaded with all the most modern technology and having a retro look that some "puritsts" have been pining over. So it is really ironic that the Cali misses the mark for the guys longing for a modern retro Ferrari.

But somehow I think a lot of the critics wouldn't buy a new Ferrari with a $220,000+ price tag even if Ferrari made a car they loved.

Perhaps that says a lot about the state of the times: the poor economy is bad for exotics sports cars.

A showroom full of the "most undesirable sports cars ever" that sit unsold is exactly the same as a showroom full of "dream cars" that aren't selling!

bdelp, I'm still laughing from your post; it's pure genius and magic!

"If you like something about a certain Ferrari, then I hate it and I hate that you like it"

"My hatred of what you like makes me hate you more"

You left out women will question your manhood when you are seen driving it

Your wife or gf will want to drive it more than you because its cute Pokemon front and big Bertha Butt rear (makes hers look much smaller) as it not an intimidating type racer looking Ferrari plus she can go shopping all day with the credit card and everything will fit in the trunk with room to spare!

Puke all you want... it's already been said hundreds of times before so I'm having some trouble finding what's new here.

Oh, by the way... you're talking to some people who actually have purchased this car. Why don't you show us your machines so we can diss them too? I'm sure you won't mind a few rude comments on how poor a choice you made, will you?

Actually, my girlfriend's rear is nice and fat. I like it that way so I don't mind! My point is that after 700 odd screaming rants on the California, I think it's all been said.

    No offense taken whatsoever.

No, you have to add, "They lied about offering a manual transmission version."

That's the first one that means anything at all to me, and I am severely annoyed!

Not so annoyed that I won't still get one once the heavy depreciation kicks in. Now, though, I will have no choice but to immediately set to work to engineer my revolutionary DSG-Pedal.

Exactly! Well said. The Cali is a great car in its own segment.

And to those who cannot stop wining about the looks... Don't watch, don't buy... OR... if you have the means to have something done about it...
    Here's my solution...
