And the year before that, and the year before that, and the year before that, and so on and so forth.....
Considering that Latifi, his family and even his girlfriend (!?!) have received death threats, I'm sure the abuse Masi and his family, once tracked down, is atrocious. And not a word from Lewis denouncing the hatred coming from his fans, btw.
Did Max denounce hate towards LH after Silverstone or even Horner and others. There is ALOT others can do about this. RedBull played a key role in hyping how wrong all of Silverstone was and then as a team had to step in after the HATE exploded towards LH. RedBull and others can go public about hate towards Masi and others. So.......................
Yet to see any evidence of this role of hatred Red Bull supposedly played. Just because British based news claims that Red Bull incited hatred, doesn't make it so. And yes, Horner/red bull made a very public statement saying the abuse was not on. As for Max, he has never made a point about this "be nice and dream of rainbows" stance that Lewis had. So, Lewis being hypocritical.
Verstappen condemns boos directed at Hamilton from Hungary crowd – Motorsport Week First weekend after Silverstone. Likewise.

This is what was said the day after the race when the social media abuse was ongoing - Team principal Christian Horner called Hamilton’s victory “hollow”, while Verstappen said the Mercedes driver’s celebrations after the win were disrespectful as he was still in hospital. Hollow = he won after a penatly given by the Stewards Max = wrong as Mercedes waited until Max was cleared. RedBull didnt help the situation at all. Talk to Max for leaving the door open and suffering for it. His problem.
Got you. So no evidence whatsoever of Horner insinuating hatred whatsoever. No different from Toto comments RE Max then.
Too busy actually living and doing things to worry about those he literally owns here who dont support him but keep talking about him LOL!
You got me thinking, I know in football (soccer) officials have been killed by upset entities. I admit this is a foreign concept for me as I live in the United States. I am not aware of any official that was attacked/killed by a player in professional league sports after a game. Has this happened in Formula 1 to warrant my comment in bad taste?
Though I don't really take online death threats very serious, as they tend to be made by anonymous 12 year olds, but the abuse part in particular to innocent bystanders (Latifi, Latifi's family and undoubly Masi's family) is very uncomfortable. It's ridiculously easy to track down people on the internet, with bare minimum information even amateurs can track down many people. It was even used with positive intentions on this very site a few years ago (and I just remembered, our own Toil went quite far in tracking me down a while ago, and of course scam artist Josh Cartu as well). It only takes 1 crazy fan to make the life of their relatives a living hell.
Couldn’t this be said of any sports public figure? I’m just surprised at the sensitivity of laughing at Masi’s plight compared to any number of faux pas in the sports realm. Again, is there something unique in Formula 1 that makes my response off color? Perhaps it’s a European cultural element I’m not familiar with, again here in America criticizing referees and being harsh to officiating is integral in sports commentary. Or perhaps my comment was taken literally, let me be clear then, when I said Hamilton is seeking Masi’s blood, I did not mean Hamilton was wishing or orchestrating his death. I meant symbolically with the demise of his career.
On the last point, don't get me wrong, this is not of Lewis' doing, and he's not egging his supporters on or anything like it. Former point, seeing how the twitter/insta/reddit crowd reacted and how they treated Latifi and his family, this goes quite a ways beyond being harsh to sports officials. I'm sure 99% of people who watch any type of sports make very harsh comments at home/in private conversations without any intention, call it figure of speech. Actively hunting down (online) family members goes way to far straight away imo. They didn't sign up for it...
