Although I no longer have my Dino I do have this two-piece exhaust valve .. one head, one stem .. that is a reminder of what over-reving can do to an old engine (not by me BTW .. the prior owner).

OK understood .... but i guess my point was many people run full marathons over the age of 50 something, and do it 'fast'. I'm not going into slow motion when I turn 60. I'm gonna take care of and push myself to redline just like the Dino. :)

Mine came loose 5 years ago. I was lucky that I found it bevore something happened. On one of the pictures you can see the number which was mentioned. There was a NOS balancer on sale but we wanted to keep the original pair together and found a Ferrari Specialist in Suisse whos restored my original balancer Not a cheap thing but it works isnce 5 years perfect again.

there is no idea to go over 7000 rpm on an STD. 246 engine, there is a restriction in the intake port, a 206 engine can rev more than a 246

there is no point to stress a std engine over 7000 cuz there is no extra hp, i run my engine to 8000 but thats a race engine, i soon have a new engine that will go to 9

I think racers and road users have a different take on power. There is more available over 7k, just not usable in a racing environment. Which tachometer do you use?

Did you make this non rubber damper, or buy it off the shelf ? Mine needs replacing, but there is evidence that one of the original type ones has come apart on my engine before. I read about the damper coming through the rear window. This would be even worse on a RHD car !

I recently had a 308 balancer done by Dale Mfg. and they did a great job with it. Nice people and a small home company that does excellent work at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended
