    Hi Tom,

    pffffffffffffffffffff.........total crazy dudes!!!!
Indeed I left an offer and was also bidding on 2 guitars. But the auction went total out of control:

    "Blackie" Stratocaster $: 959.000,- usual Strat from `56 worth $: 20.000,-
    Gibson ES 335 ´64 $: 847.500,- usual ES335 NOT from E.C. worth $: 7.000,-
    SRV Strat form `65 $: 623.500,- usual `65 Strat worth $: 7.000,-

I heard about the auction too!
I guess you just missed E.C.'s guitar by a few bucks?

LOL, I was NOT bidding on E.C.`s "Blackie" just a few in the lower price range.
But it went out of control. NO guitar worth 959K!!!!! And think about: He is still alive and not like Jimi Hendrix and his "Woodstock" Olympic White Stratocaster which has been sold for 600K.....

(I use to collect guitar picks a few years ago, got ca 1600)
I dont think I'll bid on his guitar though.... :)

There is no off-topic section on the European board! What is the problem with this small thread that bothers nobody? I like it because it really applies to on of our long-time members. Wolfgang belongs to the furniture of this board and for that reason I would like to call it on-topic!

I think that we have to be a little bit more relaxed on this than our American friends. We are a small community and can only survive with a bit of tolerance!

    :)

WOW that must have been an exciting auction. Mr Clapton has donated alot. Some say those quitars arent worth it but I think it is when you look at where the money is going to.

It's nice to see people give back. Now if only Eric Clapton would just give me a ride in his Enzo....

    *sigh*
