I think Carbon pretty much photographed every bit of the 599, but here's something that surprised me - maybe they do this on all their tires? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Where is the rest of the car? I love pics regardless of how many times a certain car has been posted. Internet forum = picture craving. lol On the cars I have worked on with Pirelli tires I have never noticed that stamp. Maybe they want the logo to show up on the ground after burnouts??
I like little pointless additions like that. As far as a wear marker goes, I think the owner will find that he is past the limit of that logo at about 1000 miles, lol.
"at about 1000 miles, lol." If it lasts that long, it's time to remove the block of wood beneath the accelerator pedal! Chris - the car is right across the street from you!
Hahaha, even Grandma driving to church in that car will wear that marker out lol. If the car is still there tomorrow, Im going to stop by! I remember when they had two of them when they first got them in. Simply stunning. They will probably kick me out after I start drooling on the car haha.
There's actually a good historical reason for the similarity. When Enzo was alive he and Pirelli worked together. The similar logo was deliberate and agreed to by both. I think this was back in the 1950's. If memory serves, I think it was Ferrari who copied the design from Pirelli and not the other way around, as it was better known. Steve
Carbon, I was referring to your thread with the 599 photos. I assumed you'd given your readers all the facts - but no, you missed this critical part of the 599 success story. Shame on you. And, yes, the car to which that tire belongs resides at FoW.
Is this on area around the tire tread? Sorry, the detailed shot is a bit to CU so I can't place where it would be located.
We've seen so many excellent photos of 599s, from every angle - but I hadn't seen this small, insignificant detail, which I found amusing. I'd imagine all Pirellis bear this stamp - perhaps they always have, and I've never noticed! Not a photoshop. Here's another photo showing the mark in slightly more context, right rear tire: Image Unavailable, Please Login
