It looks like the clock is stopped before they get to the point where the clock originally started. The Nissan video did the same thing, is this the industry standard along with rolling starts?

That is the same standard.. BTW, the world record there is 6:11 in the Porsche 968 in 1983.

From the wheel movement and car movements the ZR1 looks to be far more stable and composed than both the Zonda and GTR (low and high speed). I guess thats proof that the much hyped about Magnaride suspension works. Even with the headwind its also interesting to note that the 638hp ZR1 was only able to reach 179mph on the long straight, whereas the 480hp GTR reached 180mph.

I would say that with a better driver *cough* C6R driver *cough* they would have a far better time, at times I feel that Jim Mero was taking some very conservative lines. It's also funny watching him throw his hands up in the air when he does something wrong like taking a very wide line or hitting the limiter.

GM has always used different start/stop locations. What they didnt do previously was a flying start, there is a video of the CTS-V where they explain their new testing procedure i.e. drive in reverse for three turns so they could do a flying start (2.28 into the video).

When you look at where the vette was in the 80's and all the commercial pressure on them at the moment with their lineup and the unions etc it is amazing that they are still making cars like this. The vette's got 50 years of C1-C6 history that the GTR isn't ever going to have. Interesting to see whether the ZR1 buyers will be from elsewhere or current Z06/corvette owners.

Yeah, I mean there's no way the GT-R has as much history as a Corvette.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyline_GT-R

The GT-R name has been around since the 70's first brought out in 1969. The Skyline itself is only 4 years younger than the Corvette name.
