David,

I'll have to check my fuse panel closely. I don't remember seeing any modifications. Can your light stalk be pulled toward the driver? When my stalk is in the topmost position with the parking lights on and I pull back on the stalk, the headlights come on (low beam) and the headlight assemblies rotate up. They stay in that position as long as I keep the stalk pulled back. When I release the stalk, the headlights go off and the assemblies rotate closed.

Barry,
Have you looked at your fuse panel closely, and compared it to the www.ferrariclub.com "headlight modification" FAQ? It is very possible that a previous owner had the mod done. I have seen at least two other cars that had been so modified by others. I've done at least four or five myself....

Thanks for the links guys. Will comein handy. I don't know how you found them. I tried 308 dash lights on the archive search and found everthing but what I wanted. Maybe I need a tutorial in that too...

I'm not sure what Ferrari had in mind with subsequent model years, but my 1976 GTB came equipped with not only reasonably bright dash lights, but also parking lights on without the headlight assemblies having to be in the up position and headlight flashing by pulling back on the stalk.

THIS post shows a way to keep the rheostat active, but have the "off" position as full bypass. Neat.

I helped write the FAQ at www.ferrariclub.com and have upgraded the bulbs in two cars. I have to admit the bypass makes the biggest difference. Do that first, before bothering with the bulb swap. Do NOT by the bulb kit from Italiancarparts.com...rip off.

Some time last year there was a thread posted about modifying 308 dash lights to make them brighter by bypassing a resistor and adding new globes. I wanted to do it this weekend, but I've lost the printout I made of the thread with the schematic diagram and the steps to take.

I tried searching the archives but couldn't find it. Can someone please help me out.
