Hi, do all/most F430 have exhaust manifolds failures? I am looking for a F430 and would like a heads up. Thanks. Sent from my LM-G710VM using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Yes they do. The manifolds are the weakest point in the exhaust system and they fail because the rear support brackets (which are not required) hold the system rigid stopping it from expanding and contracting.
You can swap out the oem brackets for a set of Capristo expansion brackets to improve matters. Exhaust has about 3/4 inch movement rear wards
To the OP, yes, but don’t let that stop you. IMO... It’s an amazing car with a couple known weaknesses that are truly easy to fix. If you are testing the waters, buy one that has the fixes at a fair price so selling will come easy if the car doesn’t suit you. If you are buying to hold and enjoy for a long while, find the best example you can get your hands on and take care of the fixes (if any) that it might need yourself. GLWB! I think most of the 2008, and all of the 2009 have the MK 2 exhaust manifolds. They are a little better than the MK 1’s. On my 2009 I’ve got 13,000 miles on my original manifolds and no problems yet. It does have the Capristo brackets so maybe that is helping. Don’t let it stop you from getting one. Driving the car is amazing! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Thanks for insight. I am looking at a low mileage 05 with original manifolds. No problems so far, but I thought I would need eventually to replace.
I have the Mk 2 manifolds, Fitted under warranty, but may still get the Capristo bracket. OP, My 430 has been pretty much faultless for five years of ownership. however, the price on the site is $850 Excluding shipping and fitting, not $300 https://capristoexhaust.com/product/ferrari-430-bracket-kit-for-oem-muffler/
I wouldnt waste my time and money on Capristo brackets. My experience>>I just took those infamos brackets that crack off the day after i bought my f430. I drove it for 3 years without an issue till i sold the car...If i buy another, Ill Remove those damm brackets and throw them away,,Thats it
So what you are saying, if the manifolds aren't cracked, than remove oem brackets (even if no problem now). That'sit. The car has low mileage, maybe that's why no problems?
Get yourself down to Egham and knock on their door for a good price, i never paid anywhere near that for mine when i fitted their manifolds.
