I’ve searching and I found nothing about converting a us 328 front bumper to euro. Is it possible to push in the front bumper? Why no one tried? Or maybe my search fu is weak.
I know you can push in the 308 front and rear bumper but I’m not sure if you can do the same for the 328
Isn't the actual bumper about the same, just the US version has a shock behind it and the Euro doesn't? And isn't it pretty much integred into the lower valance? Dunno I could be wrong but I don't think your gonna be able to do it like you can on a 308.
Well, to answer my own question, after some research It seems it’s not possible to push back the “lip” bumper on the us 328. As this lip is part of the bumper. and the us and euro are different parts. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Exactly: a. the two parts have a different design: the US bumper is more clever I think, as the lower spoiler is separate from the bumper itself, meaning you can actually change the lower spoiler without having to change the whole bumper assembly as on Euro cars b. specially useful as the "Euro" front bumper (meaning: bumper and spoiler integrated together) has been NLA for a number of years... Not strictly true - Available for cars up to 64761: https://www.ferrariparts.co.uk/part/ferrari/61741700 Eurospares also have them in stock: https://www.eurospares.co.uk/parts/ferrari/328-1988/bodywork-lighting/front-bumpers-38968 (No.10 - Part No. 61741700) The Euro bumper also looks slightly better as it doesn't stick out as far as the US version (Ferrari did a better job with the 328 US spec bumpers than they did with the 308 US spec bumpers though)
But, is it possible to install a euro bumper into a us car? really I wouldn't pay >2K for this. If it was a 308, I would do it.
If you're prepared to put the money into the project, that I'm sure it could be done (It's a cliche, but just about anything can be done if you throw enough money at it) Is it worth doing? - For the costs involved, I'd say no. Whilst I think the smaller Euro front bumper looks better, the difference between the 328 Euro and US front bumpers isn't as glaringly obvious as it is with the 308 bumpers (where the US-spec bumpers look like a pair of park benches hanging off the front and rear ends of the cars!) For me, the financial pain simply isn't worth the gain.
Have you tried this from MACarbon. https://www.macarbon.com/install_guides/ferrari/MAcarbon_Ferrari_308_Bumper%20Reducer_Installation_Instructions.pdf The presumption is that the brackets are similar or adaptable to the standard 308 brackets. I have them on my 85QV and they work great in reducing the profile of the bumper. Given the lower balance issues noted above it may be worth a shot to talk with the folks at MACarbon - they are very helpful.
By the time of the 328 the bumpers were better integrated into the lines of the car. I would really think this is not a wise project to make a mish mash of the two versions.. I guess I would need to see where the Euro is "so much more beautiful!"
No need to made a mix of the two versions, really, because it does exist already, and made by the Maranello factory: the Swiss variant after mid-1987 (VIN= ZFFCA20S - for a GTS, or ZFFCA19S for a GTB): catalysed engine, as the USA variant (046 model of engine for these swiss cars) (with the hot air extraction slot in the rear bumper, the grill around the exhaust pushed rearwards) but the "short nose" of the "Euro" variant, no side reflector lights and the small "euro" rearview mirror; a small number of these cars found their way in Canada. Agreed. I'm not a 328 guy, but I've never even noticed there was a difference. If there is, it's far less-dramatic than the 308 situation.
See post #11 in the enclosed link for the nose matter, the pictures help https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/euro-328-vs-us-328.461527/ Rgds
There are small details that change the look of the car. Euro: the back lower black spoiler is more angled than the US birdcage cat enclosure never noticed the small reflectors. I thought it only had the round side markers. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
