Last week it hit 118 in Phoenix and I got a new aluminum radiator from Davis Racing Products. This is the third summer with my 456. The first summer I was quite anxious as the running temp rose above normal. By last summer I had become accustom to the personality of my car and accepted an in-town running temp above 230 when the ambient temp was over 100. Last week my guage went well above 240 and I discovered several small leaks in the radiator. Davis Radiators had been mentioned here so I purchased one and Alex Traverso installed it. Got the car back on Thursday...the 118 day. Drove home watching the temp guage go to just over 210. On Friday I went for a test drive just to watch the temp guage. Again in stop 'n go trafffic the temp went to just over 210. But as soon as I got some air flow, on the freeway, it dopped to normal 190. Easily, a 20 plus degree drop in running temp below original. Fantastic. This was a great improvement. HIghly recommend.
Yes, the radiators are custom built and the wait time is about 3 weeks. The price of the radiator from Davis is a little more than $1100. A bargain compared to the Ferrari part. A better part for less money. http://www.rondavisradiators.com/ Ron Davis Racing Products 7334 N 108th Ave Glendale, AZ 85307-2803 623-877-5000 I found one at GT Car Parts, new and no wait time. Have you run a test on the entire system to make sure it is still not leaking? IF the radiator was leaking there might be good reason to inspect the heater core as suspect also.
