+1 apparently implies agreement with often the above quoted post, as such its meaning is akin to the terse statement, "Agreed" or "ditto."

For example, if someone agrees with my particular post, they will quote it and state "+1."

a few years back, at an other site (*************) you could give grades to a thread. this way you could see if the thread was interesting to watch.

also, the creator of the thread got grades by this, thus enhancing or lowering his "karma"
something to boost e-respect i guess...
    :)

    +1 for my explanation!

On some other forums they have what is called a reputation system. You have a little green square, the more people give you "reputation" whether it's negative or positive gives you more little green squares or gives you red squares if you make useless retarded posts. On these other forums when you agree with somebody instead of just saying you agree with them, you reply +1 letting them know you gave their post a positive rating and they should give you one back.

Since we don't have this system on f-chat I think trendy people just brought it over and it caught on from there, note that the amount of green squares you have is equivelant to the size of your penis, on some forums it's a joke how serious they take these little green squares.

Ive seen the +1 thing on another guitar forum ive been on for about 2 years. I know its not a "new" thing or even exclusive to F-chat.

Im not a fan of it, personally.

Most sites prohibit quoting an entire long post just to add "me too".

But if you quote an entire log post and add "+1", it's not subject to that rule.

(Hint: you can delete within the "quote" blocks; typically adding elipsis (...) for removed parts of sentences).
