I have tried to find pictures of 246 Dino's in every color offered. Per Speers color book which he graciously loaned me it shows 32 colors offered. Since then I have discovered 2 more colors that came from the factory that were not in the color book giving a total of 34. I have pictures of 30 colors on 206/246 Dino's I'm missing 4 and maybe there are none in those colors. If anyone has any of the colors I will send a free Dino Tee Shirt hot off the press. Thanks

    Hold up....Hold up...

All right, I am being a baby, but I am Speer, not Speers...My last name is singular and not plural...I am not related to Brittany (although maybe that could be a good thing)....

My master paint book, and I say MINE, I happen to own it, but it isn't anything that I created......

    The colors:

    Avorio Safari
    Prungna
    Azzurro Cielo
    Bleu Chiaro Metallizzato

    are in in that book.

I am not saying colors exist outside that range that were not factory, but at least this book is a factory/dealer book for could be selected...

Further more. I know of at least 1 prungna Dino that surfaced..... I can't attest to it being factory or not, but it was a recent resurrection from the past...

Speers meaning you own the book. Maybe should of been Speer's color book. And the colors I'm looking for are in your book. I was so excited to see a response, I thought I would have one of my missing pictures and sending a tee shirts to the owner of (Speer's) color book. Actually Scaglietti colors book that now belongs to Speer and is Speer's color book. Now all crystal clear.

There seems to be some confusion about Blu Chiaro Metallizato. Most sites have it like the picture below and even a site referring to a Scaglietti color sample book refers to the color as a medium blue metallic, another calls it a light blue metallic but then compares it to TdF Blue and shows a color similar to the picture below but on a modern car. One web site refers to Blu Chiaro as "light dark blue metallic". What makes it even more confusing is that some sites don't differentiate between Blu Chiaro and Bleu Chiaro Metallic not to mention Ferrari switching paint manufacturers a few times along the way.
    Only in the Ferrari world!

Here is 06900, believed to be the Earls Court Motor Show car from 1973 for sale last month at http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C142134/

    Bleu Chiaro Metallizzato (106-A-38)

As I understand it there are two Bleu Chiaro Metallizzato. I was told the first one was spelt Blue and is the light blue shade, the other was spelt Bleu and is the darker blue shade and was introduced on the 308 models. However I do not know if this is true and I also don't know which version uses the paint code 106-A-38.

I am currently in the process of buying the car below which the owner says is the lighter shade. The car was originally Nero and he had it resprayed in this colour a few years ago.

Is it just the angle of photography that makes the front bumpers in the second shot appear to be too far forward of the bodywork.....Nice looking example though.

It seems that this is true and that the early color is the one pictured in Jon's first post which has been described as light green going to turquoise. The car you have pictured doesn't appear to be either of the 2 to my eyes. As for 06900 pictured above in my previous post further research shows that car as being delivered in Oro Chiaro and remaining that way until possibly the mid to late 80s so it doesn't count as a reference for Bleu Chiaro Metallizato on a 1973 Dino!

Seems like there may not have been any done in this color. It's mentioned as being a special order color on the 308GT4 and there were supposedly only six cars painted this color all done in 1975.

I understood the light blue shade was simply "Azzuro Metallica".......I don't have my code handy here...

My 1977 308GTB came with it, the same as used in the recent Dino Resto thread...

One of them recently surfaced in the 308 Section, a GT4 painted Ivory White originally...

    Question for Mathias:

How can Dino headlight covers look "original", especially on a USA car ??
Except for the prototype, the factory never offered headlight covers on Dinos.
Yes, I am aware Maranello Concessionaires in the UK installed them on a number of Dinos.
That doesn't make them "original", especially for USA models.

Sorry if I'm nit-picking - I'm open to opposing views.

    Regards, Bob.

    Hello Bob,

246 GT #04234 (US-model) was original delivered with headlight covers. They are called "protezioni in plastica". That`s proved by Ferrari Classiche and I have seen the old documents. The car is still in original condition with only 8000 miles on the clock. (Was recenty sold and discussed on FerrariChat).
So also US-models delivered with headlight covers and how they original have been installed, looks pretty much the same as with this blue Dino from this thread.
    Regards Matthias

Mine is supposed to be Bleu chiaro Metallizzato
I say supposed, because that's what i asked for, it was done over 20 years ago and it should be, but as you can see from these images, lighting is the key to how it displays. Its one of the reasons i love the color, its seems to have a mood of its own. sometimes blue, sometimes teal sometimes bleu?

this first shot is in the dark, with only the camera flash
