Yeah the door bar gets in the way with those seats im sure but I'm sure she can get modified.have the lower door bar removed switch the seats to something a little different maybe some sparco adjustable? My problem would be those cars probably have no AC that would suck. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
All great posts. But for me mostly metal gymnastics. As pointed out, such mods to a 360 for the street is both unusable and would be hard to live with. As a track car, if you have the bucks, why not. I've said it before; aside from bragging rights that come with astronomical HP, my stock 360 is more than enough usable HP on public roads, freeways, and even the less traveled winding back roads-- that are all still publicly traveled by too may inexperienced drivers, motorcyclist, and bicyclists. I'm a competent driver. I've had my cars on the track. It's not me I worry about when I open up my 360, it's the other folks who have a driver license. Still very interesting how much can be rung out of these 3.6 engines.
I dream of a snappy high strung 360 for the street and track w Uberlight wgt. A bugs in the teeth outlaw car. these types of builds are not for everyone. but the reward is worth it The cs is too posh for me.. but perhaps that was the goal.
I’d like to have the Challenge exterior look with the Stradale inspired interior and that N-GT and sound. Definitely my dream build.
540hp from the little 3.6 Dino would be just absolutely awesome and sound even better. Just don't expect it to run smooth or start really pulling under 5k rpm. Could you live with that on the street? Maybe I could have in my 20's.
Having built a Mk1 1999 Porsche 996 GT3 fitted with a derestricted 3.6 997 Cup motor, which produced 465hp (an increase over the stock motor of 105hp) I concur with your comments. The idea of a500+hp N/A 360 engine sounds wonderful. The reality for street use would be less so. High compression, along with high lift, long duration cams have no place in a street car. I'm 56 now btw ... This N-GT/GT2 360 does sound amazing, but has no usable idle, or indeed I suspect, power low down. No doubt the gearbox is incredibly close ratio to take advantage of the narrow power band : The 515hp Toda kit linked to, runs a 13.7 : 1 CR (and I note the special liners, cams, crank thrust and main bearings are NLA, and as it's suggested the parts need to be used together to form a symbiotic package, I'm not convinced the link is particularly relevant now). If you want more than 440-450hp for use on the street in a 360 (which I think would be doable with some properly developed exhaust headers, a less restrictive exhaust system/cats and induction system (larger airflow meters and airboxes along with the necessary ducting between the airbox housings and flow meters) I'd suggest transplanting a 430 engine into your 360. An F430 engine with decent cats, headers, exhaust and a remap will be as close to 500hp (and possibly more), and be everyday drivable on the street, whilst retaining all its OE reliability (added to which you'd be gaining 700 cc's of capacity and the torque benefits thereof) Integrating the electronics wouldn't be easy, but the end result would be far better than trying to develop/build and run a hugely modified and highly strung and probably unreliable, 360 power unit.
Well, said. I am more interested in trying to mimic this sound more than the actual HP gain. Even at 500HP, I’d still be significantly slower than my friends with all brand new exotics, I would just have a cooler unique car though.
With the 360 platform aging w time and miles... I suspect more 360’s will be having heads refreshed... a sorted upgrade pkg w 460-500hp would be popular. hate to admit but 400hp was super car level 20 yrs ago. Today not so much.
for the 360 C, i think it doesn't have a "box", its kinda straight. with a small bump before the tips.

The Challenge race car has 547 HP not 400. NO ONE would make that mistake if they had a Challenge race car. And they are lighter than what's listed too; again they wouldn't make that mistake. This is someone's build. It is not a Challenge race car.
Yes, I deleted the post because I realized they started adding them. But you beat me to it. My mistake.
Its a challenge car I talk to the guy he still has the challenge seats it still has all the challenge stuff inside it Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
And he has a big build on Facebook ferrari group of how he got the car and him making it more street friendly. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
NOPE. That is Modena power not even CS power, no racer made that kind of mistake in their ad. Post up a link and a VIN, maybe you can convince me but it looks like a Modena build, not a Challenge car.
Where have you ever heard of a 360 challenge car having 540hp lmao. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
I'm pretty positive they just made them alot lighter and less restrictive from emissions crap and exhaust. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
