Waiting for a weather break at Norfolk for the run to Coolie. [not my photo ] Image Unavailable, Please Login Last Mustang at Norfolk was about 1963
A still shot from a vid my mate sent me yesterday. They were waiting at the hold point in Darwin for nearly 20 minutes in their A320 while a bunch of F18s / F35s landed (big military exercise going on up there at the moment), then they had to sit there for another few minutes wondering what they were waiting for. Eventually, two of these showed up. One landed and then this one did a low level go around right in front of them. He reckons the noise and the wake shook his aircraft. So cool. I would post the vid, but because this dopey site insists on you putting videos on YouTube first decided I wouldn’t do it without his permission. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yep. I've seen them on static display several times but never flying. Super cool. An F-111 on steroids.
I went to the Bicentenary Airshow in Sydney in 1988 - that pic reminded me of it. The noisiest plane was the Harrier on hover, followed by a B-52 that the yanks flew down from Guam - it didn't land, just flew around and went back! But it did a low level pass on full throttle that was deafening.
Flew over this place that used to be famous in the early 2000s today. The oval still seems to be well looked after. Image Unavailable, Please Login
