Did some digging around to take care of a long list of small things not working on my car. Turns out the sunroof and antenna works beautifully. Then took the clock apart and found one of the capacitors had blown up. Insulation was all over the inside but the label was mostly missing. Some previous owner might have opened it up before because I found the clock unplugged... Does anyone have pictures showing what value it might be? Traced the yellow to a crimped pin on an OEM connector so seems the tap is from the factory? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks a lot afterburner! Cannot get that transistor anymore but hopefully I can get this sorted with the help of the EE's I work with.
Replaced everything and nothing happens. Busted out the FLIR and the burnt resistor we replaced was seemingly getting too much current passing through. It was burnt so it was estimated as an 81 ohm 5% resistor. Do you know the colour code of this one so I can double check? Looks like "X, Red, Brown, Gold"? That is all I have in terms of images. I am not in HK at the moment so I cannot check on the real clock... not sure if it helps? Ended up buying another clock but from a Lancia. Turns out the main board is exactly the same, just the front display pcb is a different shape. But in parallel, designed and built up a prototype of the digital clock/data display unit. Will add more pictures and details in my main thread! My clock doesnt work either. Is this a potential DIY fix. I can handle soldering. How did the clock come out of the dash board?
It comes out really easy. Remove the tach, the entire right side (clock and gauges) is one unit that can be swung over. Then two screws in the back to remove the clock and it slides right out.
Is there a pivot / leverage point on the tach to pop it out? Been very carefully using trim removal tool around the edges, but didn't want to pry too hard and break a 35 year old piece of plastic. Found this thread https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/tachometer-removal-in-mondial.8649/
I just used my fingers gripping the inside of the trim circle and pulling straight out. Mine came off super easy.
Was able to get the tachometer out finally. And this entire jumble! Can the clock be taken out? Image Unavailable, Please Login
