Carrera GT

Happy to say I've started an internal registry of these cars to help track their history & lives going forward. The more Carrera GTs I come across, the more I realize they have all led very different and unique existences!

So far, this will be limited to USA cars, and only those cars that we have more information on than what is publicly available online. My notes span 15 cars at the moment, but I hope to reach solid triple digits within the coming year. This will be kept private so as to avoid any conflict with owners, but I am always happy to share information for those who reach out directly at [email protected].

That’s a great log of the cars and their colors, but perhaps I didn’t explain properly - I am logging each car with its full history including ownership, location, servicing, any paintwork, any “stories,” any blemishes, etc. I will maintain this privately, but I’m happy to help those looking where possible via private correspondence.

A nice photo of the sole Carrera GT in PTS Condor Yellow (originally a Porsche 356 color) with LTS Cocoa interior. This car is a Bahraini example with badge #1261 making it very close to the final badge number.

The original owner, who still owns the car some 13 years later, confirmed some details for me: "#1261 was one of the last 9 cars on the production line. During the week I was there, journalists covered the story, and Mission 1000 Porsche was also there with a few VIPs for the final cars to be built. Keep in mind, once the cars were fully built, they were be tested and checked for at least one month before being delivered to the customer!"

I wanted to take the time to post the actual options available for the Carrera GT, since so many cars came from the factory with fairly standard spec. The below is taken from the Porsche Cars North America United States Order Guide, for Carrera GT, Model Year 2005. Note that this only includes the codes and the title for each code - it does not include notes, prices, or stipulations regarding “Conflicts With,” “Requires,” or “Must Pick One.” I think it's quite possible some of these options were never selected by customers or dealers, especially in the USA. This Carrera GT that Autoweek tested in 2004 had no radio or A/C according to them, proving that the 574 No Air Conditioning Desired & 691 No Radio Desired options are real if almost nonexistent in reality:

Here is Z2500 Interior Stitching in Dev.Clr. (red in this case), which shows up in a lot more places than the still-rare Z2425 Dev. Seat Stitching Carrera GT (seat only). This car also has GAC Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel and GBK Seat Belts Guards Red. The gear knob here is most likely an aftermarket carbon fiber unit, not the OEM option GAG Gear Lever Carbon Fiber. Sorry for the low resolution on these.
