    MuJo....

I hadn't seen the final seat count........but I guess my mistrust and dislike of both parties will always rule my judgement.

In Brasil they have mandatory voting (my wife is from there) and we should have it here as well or it's really not a democracy. But something inside me says that the left wing in this country would never let that happen, as it would mean their ultimate demise over time I think.

What happened yesterday........1/3 of 1/3 of the total eligible voters elected Martin........that is the greatest crime of all.

As for immigrants......well my wife is one.....and she has never felt more lied to by the Liberal government here than anywhere else in her life. I agree with you and Big Red when it comes to the Liberal manipulation of newcomers and their apparent pandering to this group for mere political power.

And....while we are on it.....they are letting in the wrong kind of people from the wrong countries. There's no other way to put it......color and race does not come in to play here......my statement is not about that at all......it's about the politics, mindset, ethics and backgrounds of these individuals.

Big Red, I agree with you 100%. I am not an immigrant, but I am hard working and we are way over taxed, which I believe is part of the reason for the 'brain drain' to the U.S.
    IMHO of course.

The point I was trying to make (apparently unsuccessfully) was that all conservatives are worried about badly planned immigration and the abuse of our refugee policy. Everyone knows that the Liberals play to those who abuse this country’s generosity. Everyone also knows that we are all wildly over-taxed so the Liberals can waste our money and pay off the countless special interest groups that vote for them.

I just happen to believe that it is possible to discuss the topic without falling into mindless racism. The kind of mindless racism that ensures that the Liberals will keep on winning.

So do I Joe.....the problem is.....the liberals scream racism the moment you touch their "sacred cow" of voters.....regardless of how intelligently and carefully you word the issue.

Which is why it is time IMHO for conservatives to start attacking relentlessly and with vicious words and aims, rather than constantly defending with polite phrases. Let's take the gloves off and divide this country up.....then see how they like it.

The high road is closed due to intellectual potholes.

Joe, point well taken, but it still amazes me that we are the minority. Since when did it become the base of our society to be open to everything that swings left. I am a moderate conservative, joel made a good point of everyone needs to be forced to vote like brazil.....but there one big problem with that...brazil unfortunately is not better than we here with a 1/3 of the voters going out to vote. Also, with 50% of the baby boomers now going to retirement and the other 10% being children, the other 10% not working , and the other 5% in hospitals, and the other 5% being criminals of some sort, and the other 25-35% of the population that actually works and pays its taxes and supports this country, I dont think I want them all to vote. I think it would NDP/Liberal majority all the time.

No disrespect Joel about the voting policies of Brazil, but that is not the example I hope will fit here.First and foremost, all criminals in prison votes taken away to start.I think it just becomes to difficult after this to implement but I wish people knew the platforms before they voted, this goes for Quebec as well, if another referendum comes into play...I hope they leave and take all there stuff with them. Wish I was able to ask for a recall on Mcdummy in Ontario and Mar-lier in Ottawa. What a joke this country !!!

Keith and Rick - Good points. I see we are on the same page after all. Here is what concerns me. The thought of the Liberals and the NDP in cahoots to decide what happens to this country and our tax dollars truly makes my hair stand on end. If we thought that AdScam, Shawinigate, HRDC, the gun registry, Dept. of Indian Affairs etc. ad nauseum were/are bad…..I mean my God the NDP wants $10 billion for 10,000 wind turbines across Canada. Can you even fathom the waste that will entail?

When you read about why so many (relatively speaking) of our sheep-like countrymen voted for the Liberals, the one thing you keep seeing is that they were aware of Liberal corruption but were "more frightened by Harper's hidden agenda". To me, this illustrates two things: 1) The Liberal smear campaign worked (the hypocritical bastards) and 2) Harper and his team were incompetent in their rebuttals. (As an aside, the genius who came up with the "Paul Martin supports kiddie porn" angle needs to be fired asap.) Ralph Klein certainly didn't help the cause either.

I could have devised a more effective ad campaign and I'm not even in the business!

What is the general assumption re. the Reform Party, Alliance and to a great degree the Conservatives? That they are redneck racist maniacs. There have been a few clowns who over the years have bolstered this image but for the most part, it is a false assumption (as we all know).

So my point (apologies for the meandering) is we can't talk about immigration in broad, general terms, e.g. "all immigrants are criminals on welfare who use up our health care resources". We know who the bad apples are, we know where they are (usually) from. They make a mockery of our entire judicial system and use our own Charter as the club with which to beat us over the head (Thanks Trudeau). Instead, we need to calmly point out that quality immigrants are good for the country (i.e. the ones who want to work, obey the law and assimilate) but the ones who come here to collect welfare and participate in organized crime with the full protection of the Charter need to be shown the door (or preferably not let in at all).

I know (and I assume everyone else does as well) plenty of great immigrants of every colour who came here for a better life and made something of themselves. I just don't want the discussion to become a white vs. non-white issue, which is exactly what the Liberals want.

Well said......now on the Toronto front, David Miller the NDPer has Fantino fired, or not renewed his contract. Another joke, crime fighter and the respect of his force gets gased because people think the racial profiling was in place by his rule. Well, heres what I say to this.....anyone out at 4am in the morning on the public roads with more than 1 person in the vechile is obviuosly doing something...that something is not shopping for hot dogs for the barbq, or picking up laundry for work, regardless of color your doing something wrong. Which brings me to my next point, does anyone know the stats on the arrests of non-white over whites in this country. I would bet No-one knows....you wanna know why? Probably because the case would be correct in identifing new immigrants as being the drain on our system. This country is slowly becoming a junk yard.
my .02C.....hope I didnt offend any hard working, tax paying, law abidding citizen on this system, Ferrari owner or not. As for the ones that are offended, I would bet 1 of the 3 points do not apply to you.
