    This is a head's up so you can mark your calendars!!!

    Enjoy a drive thru twisty scenic back-roads in north-central MA to Groton. Then visit with fellow FChat members & enjoy some of the best BBQ & other food you've ever eaten.

    DATE & TIME:
    Sunday, 22 JULY 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM.

    It'll be OK to arrive early, but you may get put to work setting up or watching something cook ;^)

    I need a headcount by 12:00 PM Sunday 15-JULY so I can get the brisket & ribs ordered

    BTW, I've got a real treat this year, I ordered a case of my favorite BBQ sauce from a small company in southern Oklahoma!
    It's been 5 years or so since I've had any!!!

    eMAIL RSVPs have been somewhat lighter than usual, so I'm extending the eMAIL RSVP deadline.

    If you think there's a good chance you can come, but can't quite committ, please go ahead & respond. I don't mind having some extra food if it turns out you can't make it.

    Also, in your eMAIL indicate if you can help with Setup, or stay an hour or so afterwards to help with cleanup.

    MENU Item suggestions - most are up for grabs, or you can be creative:

    You do NOT have to bring anything but yourself, but historicly many people have insisted on bringing something.

    DRINKS: (Need these here by 1:00)
    Coolers: I will provide 4 big coolers w/ice to cool down the drinks.

    - Large sodas - 1 each: coke, diet coke & ginger ale in 2-liter bottles.

    - Iced Tea - tbd

    - Water - I have plenty of bottles from last BBQ!!!

    - beer - tbd

    - Wine: Maybe 1 bottle each of a blush and/or Chardonnay - something the ladies will

    like.- tbd

    SNACKS: (Need these here by 1:00)

    - Chips, Salsa, Dip(s), Crudetes, cheese chunks, other nibbles - tbd

    - Sandwich bread -Need a loaf each of white & whole wheat - tbd

    - Cornbread - Anyone have a great recipe? How about some Jalapino corn bread this time(I can supply a great recipe)? - tbd

    ENTREE: Serving will start at 1:30.

    -Brisket - Of course, I will provide & smoke.

    -Ribs: Ribman (Michael James): Cooking & carving the ribs (I'll suppy the ribs).

    -Pinto Beans - I will make up a big pot.

    -Potato/Macaroni Salad - About 2 lbs. - tbd

    -Cole Slaw - about 2 lbs - tbd
    (BTW, Col. Sanders makes a very good cole slaw, but if you have a secret recipe & want to make it...)

    - Feel free to volunteer something.

    -FIXINGS:

    - BBQ Sauce - Verell will supply a couple of bottles: 1 sweet, 1 tangy, & 1 spicey, If you have a favorite sauce, bring it & share.

    CONDIMENTS: These need to be here by 1:30!

    - Thin Sliced 2 large sweet (eg: Videlia) onions for sandwiches - Verell
    - Sliced Jalapeno peppers, pickles, other - Verell

    BTW, don't worry about it being too hot. The yard is shady & I've rented a large tent for the event.

    If you RSVP'd, you should be receiving daily "coordination" emails & directions went out mid day today.

    Thanks to everyone chipping in, we've got the menu pretty well covered!
    We're down to 4 things w/o volunteers:

    Iced Tea

    A Merlot or White Zin wine

    Cole Slaw - about 3 pints

    Potato Salad


    I'm inclined to punt on the potato salad as FastRadio is bringing a Pasta dish & someone else is bringing the pasta Jambalaya that was well received last year.

    Seriously though, thank you Verell for hosting another great BBQ for the local community. Great to see friends, great to see a few new faces as well, and always nice to see a few cars line up too!
