You could have more performance with say cams, how unpure is that, from the outside no one would notice, there are other things that are easily reversible, racing plugs, performance ignition, K&n filter etc...

    And no I wouldn't play with a 246 or 275, although I wouldn't say no to a 250Gto based on a 330 or similar ;-)

    True...

Marcel Massini (sp ?) had some strong views on the disassembling of 250 GTE's for the purposes of building 250 GTO replicas in one of the other forums recently. I'll post up the link if I come across it -but Marcel is not normally too far off the mark.

Oh my god, he needs to loosen up a bit otherwise he'll end up in a wooden box, I hope he doesn't notice this thread, I have strong views on fake mr2 crapheaps pretending to be 355's but I wouldn't take it to that level

Anyway I've added my comments to the thread, just to upset the apple cart ;-)

Yeah, I was just re-reading the thread and perhaps he is a tad over zealous but his heart is in the right place! I think it would be safe to say that his view on MR2's dressed as 355's would be 'colourful' to say the least.

Marcel may be a grumpy bugger on modified Ferraris, but he's written more books on the subject than almost anybody else, a genuine authority......just not happy with people changing their cars!

I'm taking the prototype's down to a local fabricator this afternoon to get an Idea on production cost (if its stupidly high I'll see if Clives chap in the far east can turn them out cheaper)
We already know that paint and fitting will add around £400 to the cost (£200 for paint + approx 5 hours labour to remove the old bumpers and fit the new ones)

While you said it was 348-like, do you have a photo?
    It sounds pretty cool.

The simple answer is no, you remove the old bushes with a blow torch, and press fit the new ones in.

The factory bushes are welded into the wishbones, to fit these would involve removing the factory outers and welding these in.........my guess would be the person selling them bought them with that intention then burnt the old bushes out and press fitted new inners.

We've actually recieved the new bushes and I'll be sorting them out later this week (have got huge amounts to do this week!)

If anybody else is interested I'm going to be ordering another pile of poly suspension bushes for pretty much all 70's-90's Ferraris. price depends on how many orders I can put in, but it will be saving of at least 20% of the cost of superformance's harder rubber bushes and with the benefit of not having to remove the old bush carrier which is welded in (unless you want to!, have a look throught the tech archives for how to details)

If anybody wants to jump in and order some as a group please send me an e-mail with what you want. needless to say the bigger the order the better the discount we can get (I'm already in for approaching $3000!)

Andrew, That looks really good, I really didn't know what to make of it before I see it, thinking the Mondial looks a bit dated, but this from what I see looks like it was made for it properly, do you have any side shots, also out of interest what are the weight differences between the two (old and new), finally what about indicators/sidelights??, are they off the shelf jobbies

Sorry Pete, that was the only one, think I was finishing off a role of film

As for the lights Porsche 944s2 units are going in, cheapish (fleabay) and look a bit Testarossa'ish
Normal front bumpers, valance, lights, brackets and grill are almost 20kg, new bumper is 12kg with lights and fittings. a little less if you run with a mesh grill and no fog lights

first finished bumper should be completed within the next 2 weeks (dependant on some Kevlar getting here tomorrow as promised ;)) sorry to be vague and taking so long but this is really a spare time project.....something I happily havent had much of recently :) you really wouldnt want the prototype it was made out of a bumper I got from a 348 racer......cracked, chipped and only really good for making a mould out of! as for the rear well lets just say I had to glass the four pieces together before I could start making it fit!

Will the yellow bumper bolt straight on and is it repairable, as I always like a challenge (heck thats what they invented fibreglass matting and filler for), then I only have to buy the back one all done so I can then save up for the bush kit ;-)

Yes, I've glassed the correct mounts into it, it's the one were pulling the moulds of (so its now a fetching black) it also has 2 lower vents instead of one.

provided I'm spared social and artistic comitments this weekend I'll post up the finished pics

The rear bumper is almost done....and alot easier to do!...again just need more time (can't complain as were booked almost 3 weeks in advance! for everybody but people off Fchat ;) )
