There was a 74 Euro on Ebay I think recently, and I think a different 75 as well. You can probably search the 308/328 section to find the threads.

A gt4 near me. I have not taken delivery and am afraid to jinx the deal. As soon as I receive the car I will post. I will be needing painter locally though as tha the car needs paint. Does anyone have an idea as to the price range for painting a car.

    Depends.
If you're going to do a full repaint, i.e. pulling the glass, doors, etc. figure 8 grand or so. If you're just going to spray it you can spend as high oe as low as you want. Quality & labor will determine the price.

Dave, I want to have it sanded to remove a lot of the old paint and do a respray dealing with a fit issue or two (right side door needs to slide forward 3-4 mm and front bonnet is a tiny bit off (needs to go right 2 mm or so). Everything else is straight with all rust already repaired. do you think 5-6 grand will cover that?

DS - Do you really think you can get a trim off/window out, bare metal repaint on a GT4 for $8K?

All of the discussion I have seen on quality re-paints of Ferrari's have been well north of $10K toward $15K.

Perhaps TX is less expensive, but I'd think that CA is top of the price heap.

A decent repaint on a Ferrari is a bit expensive. My 75 308GT4 was redone in 1991. Receipt was $10,000 Along with the receipt I have photos of the car stripped to bare metal with the windows out. There was no body damage, just a 16 year old Italian quality paint job...(I am Italiano, it is ok to make joke) The car is still stunning to see. Everytime I take the cover off I am amazed at the quality, worth every cent.....

Did you buy the purple one?

Actually I do. I've had a couple done on non Fcars for that price including my Pebble champion and national champion TR6 . In addition I know of another Fchatter who owns a GT4 and a 400i who has had one done for around $8k. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that every body shop will do it for that price.
I agree that CA is at the top when it comes to prices for repaints.

Hey A, you want to identify yourself? Didn't yours cost around 8k?

Maybe I should take the car to Nevada or Oregon to have it done. It seems as if I may save literally thosands of dollars by doing that and end up with better quality paint as well. Does that sound idiotic?

With the intent to spend a not insignificant amount on a re-paint, and wanting the best quality for the money....it may be worth transport outside your immediate area. Why not consider it.

Just don't shortchange the quality to save money once you are going to all this trouble (eg. no top respray).
