There has been a lot of discussion on this board regarding the Testarossa tow hooks--there were two different size hooks (12mm & 16mm) supplied with seemingly inconsistent application--12mm on early cars, 16mm on later cars? Some are too big, some too small and many are too short.

My 88.5 came with a hook (PN 130993) that is the correct OD for the mount (16 x 1.5mm) but too short and the flange interferes with the hole in the spoiler. Other members indicate there may have been two different sizes under the same (130993) PN, so a total of three variables. Ferrari clearly didn't grasp this and supplied hooks with little/no regard for usability. Regardless, I bought a longer 360/F430 hook that works great (PN 155838, photo#3) and I didn't have to modify the spoiler. I still carry the original for car shows, as it is "correct" despite being unusable.

Surfing today I see the Mondial crowd has the same issue with their cars, and one of the members developed a threaded extension that looks like it should work on a TR (at least those with the 16 x 1.5mm mount). The Mondial hook is longer than my original 130993 hook (pictured) but as I recall the 130993's flange wouldn't allow it to pass through the hole in the spoiler, and if it did it was still a bit short. So this adapter may provide the extra length needed and space the flange away from the spoiler. Here is the thread--no affiliation, no endorsement, just thought I'd pass it on if you are looking for a possible solution: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferrari-parts-collectibles/504077-mondial-tow-eye-adapters-available.html#post144351174

Alternatively, these threads cover the topic well and contain several other alternatives:

I make and sell those tow eye adapters and also 8000 lb rated tow straps threaded M16x1.5 if you don't want to use, and almost always bend, your valuable OEM tow eye.

I also make the tow straps threaded M16x2.0.

PM me or see the threads to order. I have 3 left from the third production run that are not spoken for.

Looks like my adapter should work on the TR's too.

Thank you for posting this! I had my car towed this past weekend and it was the first time I tried to screw in the tow hook. I thought I had the wrong tool kit or my car was in a front end collision. I can't believe this oversight. Shouldn't this be a recall item?

Fortunately the tow company brought out a zero degree flat bed. I have never seen one before. It was cool to see the car get jostled like a toy. But at least he didn't need the tow hook.

I have had my car flatbedded too without using the tow hook, that is how I found out it would not fit, lol!

I got some expert instruction from Tim Stanford on where to hook to the car for this purpose and instructed the tow driver on how to do it without damaging the suspension.

Most tow drivers will know to be careful where they hook onto an F car, but it is also nice to have a functional tow eye in case you ever need "Bubba" to pull you out of a ditch with this F150.
